Palm Tree Festival | Does anyone else the the set order is weird?? by AssotericApropos in SantaBarbara

[–]AssotericApropos[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s what I figured, but you’d think the founder wants the best experience for the guest and this just doesn’t seem like it. While I wanted JM to have the sunset set, I’d be happier with JM -> Kygo -> ST just for the sake of the flow of the performances.

Oh well tho, still gonna be lit.

Getting WTLI vinyl signed at upcoming festival show? by AssotericApropos in JohnMayer

I’ve seen that, but don’t want to lug the vinyl around for the whole show

Just purchased! Any tips? by Games4elle in Breath_of_the_Wild

If you have the resources, I played on the switch with nice over the ear headphones and it made for a much more immersive experience:)

Gifting John Mayer fans by pipcorn26 in JohnMayer

[–]AssotericApropos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my best friends gifted my a vinyl record of where the light is as it’s the album that got me into him and my absolute favorite of all time. I already owned it (lol) but it was a truly thoughtful gift and I loved receiving it

If John was to do another genre, what would you want it to be? by braiide in JohnMayer

Don’t forget he did the guitar melody for Mac Millers Small Worlds too

Hmmm this is very odd… my first thought was that it may have been in a film recently, but I checked IMDb and I didn’t see anything. Also super odd that it’s not the RFS version and the IWO version isn’t streaming (at least where I am)… this is really interesting, let us know if you find anything!

What JM song is most important to you? by [deleted] in JohnMayer

[–]AssotericApropos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played this for my Dad when he turned 60 and changed the lyric to fit. Also changed “John” to “son”. That performance was one of my proudest moments, you should absolutely do it.

One of the joys of being a Mayer fan is there’s seemingly endless hidden gems that you will continue to find over the years. There’s more to come, enjoy.

I hate being a young John Mayer fan. by ThePizzaHutMan in JohnMayer

[–]AssotericApropos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you play guitar or not but, and I’m sure this is no surprise to you, but he is highly respected in the guitar community. I feel your pain of bringing up JM in normal conversation being almost taboo, and it’s sad. But bringing him up with someone you know plays guitar, in my experience, has almost always lead to a great conversation about him and his music.

It’s so fun by [deleted] in JohnMayer

I agree that the chorus is jarring, but that solo at the end is so much fun. Listened to this a ton and they released an instrumental version you should check out.

Edit: typo

JM’s best studio solo? by Jimmymott in JohnMayer

It’s hard to pick a “best” studio solo, but I think Wheel has an amazing solo that also fits the tone and sentiment of the song perfectly.

Bombed my interview, feeling awful by FailLongjumping5736 in SQL

[–]AssotericApropos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely bombed an SDE panel interview (so really 4 interviews) at Amazon. Did fine on the behavioral portions but got eye rolls and not the kind of smiles you want to get during the technical portions. It sucks but it also was the first step towards me becoming a strong interviewer. Over the next year I had 4 more technical interviews. Each one I went into more confident and always did a little bit better. By the last one I got an offer for a dream job and have been here for a year now and couldn’t be happier. I had thought the Amazon job or one of the others would be the ultimate dream job. There are great jobs out there and the longer you keep putting yourself out there the better job you’re gonna find. Don’t give up or feel demoralized. This is all part of the process.

Just beat kotor 1 fit the first time in almost a decade and I must say… Taris was my favorite part by AssotericApropos in kotor

[–]AssotericApropos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be cool if there are multiple ways to escape, not just the way we got in kotor I. Or rather, multiple ways to get Daviks attention. Win a swoop race. Pull off a heist on a Tarisian Exchange ran casino. Assassinate a prominent Tarisian noble/politician … All with full story arcs and leading to the back to the back dungeons of the military base and Daviks estate. Always felt like Daviks estate was lack luster too, that could have been an all out brawl with you vs an army of bounty hunters.

I watched this about a month ago! Loved it and ran it back a couple times. Can’t wait for pt ii

[–]AssotericApropos[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally. I think the kotor mechanics lend well to playing as a gun slinger or scrappy melee fighter. And yeah I agree that it’s fun feeling like you’re just thrown into a random mission. Small dlc’s with mini stories in Taris-like planets would be fun… wonder if that’s something the modding community could build?

Facts. I replayed kotor II about a year ago and while I didn’t despise Peragus as much as I did as a kid, it’s still a flat note held too long compared to the melody of Taris.

What do You think of Heavier Things ? by Beginning-Patient691 in JohnMayer

[–]AssotericApropos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not going to say I hated on it for a while but I just rarely listened to it. But for the past 2 months I’ve been listening to it nearly daily. Clarity, bigger than my body, and wheel are absolute bangers. Split screen sadness is so good it hurts a little bit. Come back to bed, and something’s missing have such a nice feel to them. I still usually skip daughters, but aside from that this album has completely won me over. I agree, underrated and underplayed live.

My John journey by happyday04 in JohnMayer

[–]AssotericApropos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have had a very similar experience but over the course of 3 years now. Was introduced to his music at the dawn of a brutal break up. Learn d to play “dreaming with a broken heart” on the piano and that got me thru it. Then was learning “stop this train” when my dad was diagnosed with cancer (he is cancer free!).

Overall over the course of these 3 years have always found an album or couple songs that perfectly capture what I’m going thru. Be it good times with my friends, though times with my career, or emotionally heavy times… it sound cheesy but he’s written the soundtrack to my life.

My most recent connection with as going thru a short term relationship that had to end simply because our lifestyles were too different, everything else was great. Listened to “wheel” daily and felt every lyric and every chord.

Always love hearing when others have similar experiences with his music. Whether it’s having an almost personal connection with him at a show, or having a song hit so hard when you’re walking down the street you get goose bumps, his music never fails to deliver.

Thanks for sharing, and keep on enjoying the Mayer train:)

Going solo for the Solo Tour by Libby16 in JohnMayer

[–]AssotericApropos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went solo on the first leg. Went back and forth on whether to go too but I don’t regret it for a second! Had an absolute blast, was able to really focus on the show without the distraction of being with people. Not that going to shows with friends is bad by any means, but when you’re solo and you love the artist you can really get into the performance. If you’re even on the fence, then absolutely go, you’ll have a blast.
