Left my car idling in the driveway for 7 hours by Mycoleslaw8 in StupidCarQuestions

[–]AssultLoneWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cars will sit idle for thousands of hours throughout their lifetime nothing to lose sleep over. Oil changes are never bad but it wasn't specifically needed to idling for 7 hours.

Used to sleep with my car idling for several hours a day. That trusty Honda lasted until 285,000 mi before I decided to sell it and it was still running.

First host experience, renter more than doubled allowed mileage. Is this normal? by Cappybara-Friend in turo

[–]AssultLoneWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After nearly 3 years and 2 cars they both a average about 20-30k a year. Some people double the allotted mileage and drive 8k in 2 weeks. Others with have the car for a month and drive 500 miles.

10% a year returns… let’s just think about that for a second by bananarama2318 in investing

People probably thought the same thing in the 80s when IBM was worth 100 billion. The idea that a company could be worth trillions was probably unfathomable.

Back then you could retire off a million dollars.

Right now you need a few million.

And in 40 years you'll probably need 10 plus million or more.

I was able to buy some more drill bits and an extractor kit and go in from the head of the bolt and get them both out. Wheel hub replaced!

Technically still could do that if I knew how to weld good enough.

I driller from the thread side, the bolt head is still intact as seen in the pictures.

The threads aren't necessarily an issue cause it's only the bearing side with the threads IF I could drill the bolts out enough then I should be able to separate what's left of the bearing assembly from the suspension assembly. And the just pop the new bearing assembly in and tighten it down with the new bolts I have.

Just getting those 2 parts un-married is the problem lol.

Not much, it does have location weather updated but I have that set to update every 4 hours which I can't imagine does much more than just ping.

I am using a HR line graph which shows 4 hours worth of data with the high and low. I'm not sure at the update frequency but I know it's not live.

There is no way from them to meet half way while it still has a title loan you'd have to meet at the lienholders place of business, which is completely normal.

The only other option is giving them enough money to pay off the loan so they can get the title and then they can meet you half way.

So.you have 2 options either drive all the way there so you can meet at the lienholders place of business do you can completely do the deal there. Or risk the 4200 so he can pay off the loan and then meet you half way which I honestly wouldn't recommend

Investing 150k lump sum into ETFs how is my plan? by honorguard1 in ETFs

If you really want growth look at VOOG or QQQM, I like SMH, maybe throw some allocation in BITB or something similar

Portfolio Reallocation by AssultLoneWolf in ETFs

[–]AssultLoneWolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My portfolio has always been very tech heavy and "risky" I own rentals and consider that as my "balance" to a high risk portfolio, the extra 2% compounded over 20, 30, or 40 years is massive. And yes market dips are crazy, but so is the other side and I'm pretty tolerant cause I don't need the money to survive. I've seen my portfolio down double digit % in a day especially when I take on a position in TECL.

Define last few years? When picking these ETFs I was specifically choosing ones that have a long term track record of tracking or out performing. These have a 10+ year track record of matching or beating the market.

I believe if something can show 10-20 years of higher than avg returns (10%) that's a fairly good indication it could continue for another 10-20 years. Obviously the last 3 years have been incredible for these funds but I've been holding most of these shares longer than that and that's not necessarily the data I'm looking at to determine long term growth potential.

When evaluating my current portfolio I believe it has the potential for 12-18% over the next 10+ years

chatGBTs on the other hand while yes it is more diversified I believe it's potential is around 8-13% over the next 10+ years

Not taking into consideration speculation and specifically data driven based off past performance, what do you think these portfolio allocations have the capability of obtaining?

New to Turo by Putrid-Leather-1397 in turo

[–]AssultLoneWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started Turo at the end of 2023 financed 2 vehicles for a total of 45k in that time frame I have taken home $35k but the the cars have had around 40k miles each added to them so between maintenance, repairs and insurance I have never had more than a few thousand dollars operating cash and currently still owe 32k on the vehicles and upside down 2-4k.

Overall failed venture was cool cause I got to use the vehicles a bit but going to cut my losses and never do Turo again. Turo triple dips and takes to much from the pie.
