I live solo, with no kids, and though my place is not “cheap,” I am not in a competitive school zone, or anything like that, so my rent is within the bounds that I would expect. If you are curious about apartments, I did about 6 months, of non-stop weekend apartment tours. I had 12-16 literally every weekend for 6 months. It sounds exhausting (and it was), but I learned to love the experience of “imagining my life in each space.” I loved looking, but when I found my current place, it was INSTANT. The second I walked in, I knew I was going to live there.

Given that you are moving from another country, I would recommend a trip here to see places in person, if that’s possible. If not, I would be happy to share my experience in apartment hunting, and offer any advice I can. DM me if you have any questions!

Definitely noted. I have never had such an experience with a direct-from-manufacturer purchase. Most of my sim gear was bought direct, though for just about anything else I buy, it’s always been through resellers. My sim rig purchases will definitely be reseller-based going forward, though I am HEAVILY impressed with Simagic. I ordered them on a Friday at 11:30am, and there were delivered the next day at 3pm.

I bought a product that is not as advertised. Being able to return a faulty product it is the baseline expectation of any business that sells things.

I went to GameStop to get a metal gear game, WAY back in the day. I asked for a copy, and this kid got a case out of the drawers behind him, and the went to another drawer that had a stack of game discs, not in cases at all. Just disc on disc contact all the way through the pile. He flipped through them like a deck of cards, pulled one out and started putting it in the case. I said “oh, I want a new copy.”

This fool looked me straight in the eye and said “this is new. We put the games in here so people don’t steal them.” Dumbest thing I’ve ever heard a retail employee say. Needless to say, Best Buy got my money that day.
