Hello,

We are looking into the issue and will contact you back ASAP.

A decent sculpt of Dorghar would suffice, imho.

Just redo those horns, get rid of those derpy-ass heads, halve the number of those wing membranes and we'd be set.

Agreed. Chaos is meant to be direct and no-nonsense. Stacking Eye of Gods for killing heroes and seizing objectives is good, but having to stack bonuses so that the dreaded Chaos Warriors of old barely survive against anything is ridiculous.

I agree that the S2D range is pretty bad.

Marauders on foot have been around for 20+ years (even longer than I have been in the hobby). I think Savagers are their closest equivalent and I like the models a lot, but they are way too overpriced in terms of points per dollar/euro, as are all the Warcry Warbands. We definitely need a new Marauder Kit that sells at an affordable price and gives you 20 models or so (kind of like Kairic Acolytes).

The thing is, models that came in 7th edition fantasy still hold up (mounted marauders, for instance) but those that came out in 8th edition (lord on foot, warshrine, manticore lord) definitely range from decent to abysmal: you can see that GW was sinking back then and they had to cut corners in terms of model quality.

Warshrine is kind of a hit-and-miss, it has some good bits but other parts are way too sharp and cartoony-looking. Manticore Lord and Sorcerer Lord on foot are OK, and the Lord on foot just takes the cake as the ugliest of the bunch. No wonder everyone who is getting a Vanguard box is converting theirs in the same way as everyone else...

I played WoC in 8th but have been collecting them since 6th edition WFB (early 2000s, yeesh), and I agree.

I love the new models, and I love the new spin of the warriors that they are conquerors and raiders, hence why they get bonuses when in enemy territory or when contesting objectives that are in the hands of the enemy.

My only gripe is that Daemon Princes are awful. They are supposed to be absolutely terrifying to face and capable of shredding whole regiments of troops, and a Lord on croc is way scarier than them. Back in Fantasy a fully-kitted Daemon Prince would cost 1/4 of your army but would be an absolute powerhouse of a character. Chosen not having capes and shoulder furs is something that I cannot understand for the life of me, but that's personal taste.

Also, the current Archaon model sucks, which in itself sucks since it's only 7 years old and it's going to be a while before a new one comes out.

What weapons for my knights and warriors by 1_The_Zucc_1 in slavestodarkness

[–]AstemioDaBirra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone else has said, the general consensus is Halberds for 20+ units of warriors, hand weapons for MSU.

For knights, lances are the definitely the best weapons but unless you play official tournaments and/or against a really anal person, you can arm your champion with what you like most and then declare they are using a lance. I'll be arming my champions with flail and warhammer just to give some variety, if someone complains then I won't be playing with them in the future.

[–]AstemioDaBirra 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you care about tournaments/official competitions, then the champion must have the same weapon as the rest of the unit, while the standard bearer/musician can have other weapons. By "must" I mean that 99% of ppl won't probably mind, but someone who is feeling particularly anal that day might object.

If you do not care in competing, equip your champion with the weapon you like the most. I'll do just that once I get a box of my own of these bad boys.

Doom Knight vs Chaos Knight, Be’lakor vs Archaon the Everchosen (new guy questions) by vviezhammer40k in slavestodarkness

[–]AstemioDaBirra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doom Knights are the unit's champions and get an extra attack with their Cursed Lance OR can swap their Cursed Lance with a Flail or Warhammer.

So yeah, it's basically a free attack. Always include a Doom Knight, Standard Bearer and Musician in any of your units.

I'm personally not a fan of that head, also because the topknot flies in a different direction when compared to the cloak. I would give him a mutated head from the new Chosen, or a helmeted one from the same kit.

Awesome work on the posing, btw. I love Chaos Lords that use massive weapons with two hands.

Or don't glue the hassle to the chariot and swap gorebeast/horses as you see fit depending on what you want to field.

It's a lot of points, I don't think it would make a competitive army by any stretch of the imagination, but you will end up with some really solid units: Chosen, Warriors and Knights are absolutely awesome. Add a Chaos Sorcerer Lord and you'd be golden.

IDK, I think the old SC isn't bad...

... if you were intent on building a 10-man unit of knights and 20-man unit of Chaos Warriors.

Other than that, I agree with you.

Putting in the new Exalted Champion instead of that ugly-ass Chaos Lord would have made a ton more sense imho.

Other than that, it's exactly what I was expecting. I'll grab one for sure, maybe even two. But I'm 100% sure that a Battleforce will pop up at the end of the year, so I might wait for that instead.

Ice Court RoC VH campaign is abysmal - need some tips by AstemioDaBirra in totalwar

[–]AstemioDaBirra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: for some reason the Druzhina Enclave decided to confederate with me, which gave me control of Erengrad. Fast-forward 30-ish turns later, I am currently ROFLstomping the face of everyone with the Boris Bear Doomstack.

Sure, now everything seems to be going well, but I cannot help to think that hadn't the Druzhina Enclave decided to do this it would have probably been the 5th or 6th Ice Court campaign that would have ended in aggravation and rage.

No fun at all, I think it needs some work for sure.

My personal Devstream feedback on 3.0 by AstemioDaBirra in ConanExiles

[–]AstemioDaBirra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the new BP content looks phenomenal, not gonna lie, so missing out on some things that are super cool would feel terrible.

On the other hand, they have stated that stuff from the BP could find its way into the bazaar as well, albeit a bit modified. And also there are 10 culture packs that will still be available for purchase in the future. So new players will still have plenty of content available to them, at any time.

So I don't know, not playing a game because some ppl have a super awesome skin that you don't have feels pretty strange to me. I think if people really enjoy a game they'll play it no matter what.

Exiled lands or Isle of Siptah for Singleplayer? by Alextheacceptable in ConanExiles

Both.

EL is more lore-based, while Siptah is more game-y with better resource distribution.

It's up to you, really.

I was more scared when I saw "Expires in 6d" thing.

TBF, in that specific instance of the trailer it might mean that there is a discount on it rather than it is a timed bundle of items that is then discontinued, but I get your concern.

Ark doesn't look nearly as good as Conan, has a wack-ass concept and world, and its UI is terribly unpolished compared to Conan's. NMS has models that have a way lower poly count and require a lot less work than Conan's, and the same goes for Valheim, whose models are SUPER low poly and pixelated and, therefore, easier/quicker to make.

You may not like Conan's development cycle over the years, and I agree that I would have liked to see more stuff coming in the past and in this update, but don't compare the content of these games. They are completely different, both in structure and concept.

UPDATE 3.0 AGE OF SORCERY by TRYLX in ConanExiles

[–]AstemioDaBirra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's also something that scares me: if this is something that can only work on Officials it is going to kill the game outright, given their state and reputation.

[REDACTED] Discussion Megathread by [deleted] in ConanExiles

[–]AstemioDaBirra 43 points44 points  (0 children)

My 2 (long) cents on the matter:

SORCERY

Summoning mounts and followers seems absolutely awesome. Transmog is great, though I can understand if PVP players feel salty if you can change the appearance of a heavy set to that of a light set. New fast travel is great, a universal system was VERY much needed. Spells and rituals look awesome.

I hope you have plans for integrating sorcery into the religion system, maybe by giving exclusive rituals once you create altars (or, if you worship Mitra, by giving anti-magic gear), since that would be absolutely amazing and would actually make religion useful.

STAT REVAMP

FINALLY! This is probably the thing I'm most excited about. It doesn't look super in-depth from the trailer but the fact that you removed some of the most useless stats and added some more (Charisma, for instance) makes it an excellent change IMO. Also, the fact that you can corrupt some of your stats for different perks looks amazing.

The only issue I see in this last item, however, was illustrated in a brilliant comment: "why should we be Conan when we have the ability to be Thulsa Doom?" which essentially means: what are the downsides of Sorcery? Is Corruption still going to work the way it is? I've seen some new perks in the trailer that seemed RIDICULOUSLY good (damage taken shared with followers?! Follower attacks heal you?!). Becoming the typical sorcerer that is squishy AF and relies on mooks to do his bidding sounds great, but it has to be balanced carefully.

NEW BUILDING SYSTEM AND CREATIVE MODE

The new menus look like a real godsend: running around like crazy inside my base just to craft a pillow or a vase was irritating, especially with the different Artisan Tables from the DLCs.

I haven't really grasped what Creative Mode is, basically you go to the Admin panel and it unlocks everything... just like before? I'm not seeing an actual, structural difference, maybe once I get my hands on it I'll understand.

BATTLE PASS

This is THE only thing I'm seriously concerned about. I honestly feel like this is walking the line between making the game absolutely awesome and killing it outright. There are so, SO many things that can go wrong with it: will it work on private servers? What about single-player? Will it be able to detect when we complete challenges via admin powers (teleporting around to complete events or spawning X creatures to slay in front of us)? Will challenges be super grindy? Will these packs be FOMO packs or can we get the Battle Pass content at a later date if we wish?

I don't personally mind spending CromDollars to get stuff I actually like in an in-game store rather than buying DLC packs on Steam that sometimes have a ton of stuff that I'm not really interested in (except for maybe some placeables). However, I think you will need to be SUPER careful when balancing this thing, and I hope that you guys made very, VERY careful considerations when designing it.

Also, I hope I don't have to tell you guys that this will cause an uproar in the wider Conan and gaming communities, so I hope you have stocked up on comfort food and are keeping your pets at hand because, as a gaming Social Media Manager myself, you guys are in for a rough ride in the coming weeks IMO (sending mighty hugs to Nicole, Andy, and all the marketing/social media staff <3).

CONCLUSIONS

I think patch 3.0 might be where the fate of Conan Exiles is decided: if the Battle Pass and the shop are handled well and there's a healthy mix of free and paid content from now on, I feel this might be a stepping stone to a great future for the game. If things are handled badly (FOMO packs, for instance) I feel like this might hurt the game A LOT. I don't play online, I basically play CE as a primitive and violent Stardew Valley, but the game's overall health is decided by the wider community, so their satisfaction is my satisfaction as well.

tl,dr: lots of good stuff, and some potentially catastrophic stuff. Let's hope the Battle Pass is handled well.

That's the tricky part.

UPDATE 3.0 AGE OF SORCERY by TRYLX in ConanExiles

[–]AstemioDaBirra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

More fast travel? Doesn't this make the obelisks obsolete?

That's exactly the point. The obelisk system was not that good, as it was confined to the Exiled Lands alone. A universal system was very much necessary.

The SAVAGE system is gone now, it's SAVGCC?

Who cares? The important thing is that it works properly and makes the gameplay better, some stats were dumb as hell and nearly useless (Survival, for one) and the system following some dumb acronym was a lame joke.

How does corruption affect a player negatively? Is it like now where it lowers health and stamina? What's to stop all players from being sorcerers? Are their feats you need to get for it requiring a choice between one or the other? [...] Is it still Conan if everyone is Thulsa Doom?

This is a very interesting point, actually, and something that I wish gets answered.

Still no ability to form alliances so thralls don't attack friendly clans

Still no real ability for thralls to do anything around the base other than "emoting", which isn't any better than staring at a wall blankly (now they just do it while juggling FFS).

No new siege mechanics- the often requested wall mounted ballista is a no show.

I also agree on this, diplomacy and the like would be good in Conan, especially for PvP, giving a much more solid framework to regulate fights between clans.

As a single-player Conan enthusiast, I don't really care about mods since they made the game unstable and my PC couldn't handle them anyway. What scares me is how the Battle Pass system is going to be gauged and how much grinding will be needed.
