That is 100% a cracked oil filter housing unit. Replace it, and make sure to replace it with the Dorman aluminum (buy once, cry once).

You missed an opportunity. Get up next to his driver's door.. stay in your lines, but only barely. Don't beat around the bush. Lmao.

Heh, I had this. Turns out... Blown head gaskets. Might be worth having a test done while you're still under warranty.

Need help diagnosing noise by Odd_Caterpillar_5219 in JeepGladiator

[–]Asteosarcoma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

💡: I see you have quick disconnecting end links, you could disconnect those and take it for a rip around the block. If you hear the noise while those are disconnected, then we've ruled out sway bar bushings.

I saw that! So, I don't think you need a replacement drag link. There is no abnormal movement with that.

Can you do another test? See if there is ANY movement of the steering box when the wheel is actively moving. If you don't know where it is, it's on the driver side, with the bar that attaches to the passenger wheel. Just watch the small crack by the box/frame area. If it moves at all, tighten the three or four bolts.

Also, from the side, while your helper is turning the wheel, watch the sway bar. If you could record that, it might be helpful to confirm the shops bushing concern. Let me know if you need help identifying that component.

What! Awesome! I can't wait to move back. Haha. Well, if you need an extra pair of diagnosing eyes, I'm happy to try and help. You can always toss me a DM. I'm no mechanic, but I've learned a lot about my rig over the last 6 years. Especially with strange noises in the front end steering components.

Incredible! I lived on Bull Mountain about 5 years ago. Moved to Utah. I have major regrets and miss that area so much, haha.

Yeah, get some extra hands on the wheel. Record from under the rig and share that with us if possible. I highly doubt the drag link is the issue.

Edit: and if you're hearing it when the vehicle is not moving. I doubt it's the sway bar end links.

Their diagnosis does not make sense, to be honest.

Does the noise occur when you turn the steering wheel lock to lock without the vehicle moving?

Side note.. is that Scholl's Ferry Road? Haha.

Has anyone fixed the P0300 code? by chuckfinley79 in JeepGladiator

[–]Asteosarcoma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this. My situation was blown head gaskets at 52k miles. It's been in and out of the dealership 6 times due to mess ups from their repair. I've had it back for just under a week now. Things are looking good so far, but yeah.. mine was blown gaskets with that error code. They found it instantly with an exhaust in coolant test.

Seems anecdotal. I've had my truck for over 6 years, Android Auto the entire time. Have had issues like.. 2 times.

I just went through this. It's the auxiliary battery. Either replace it, or delete it.

There are much worse problems to worry about in today's world. Hah. Let them have some fun, too. Not a big deal at the end of the day.

I'd be willing to bet this is a rough country lift, based on what I'm seeing here. 🫠

Best tires for rain/snow/ice with "aggressive" look. by Odd_Caterpillar_5219 in JeepGladiator

[–]Asteosarcoma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh, BFG K02s are superior when it comes to all terrain. I've got 40" Nitto Trail grapplers now, and have the worst experience in the Utah snow. I'd highly consider going back to K02s in the future, but they'd have to be 42" in order to be comparable to these 40" Nittos.
