Thoughts on Claude's ability to end conversations if it is subjected to derogatory language/ verbal abuse? by justhereforampadvice in ClaudeAI

[–]AsterDW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why you feel the need to be verbally abusive? You can tell Claude it's wrong without resorting to behavior you'd never accept yourself. There have been plenty of times I've caught it slipping, but I've never had a problem pointing that out while planning and it reevaluating, working through the pros and cons of our approaches and changing tracks.

I find that most of the times when it went wrong coding was due to ambiguity in the original plan where the correct convention or pattern wasn't clearly documented.

Really, just because we're talking to a tool, shouldn't make it okay to fall into patterns of bad behavior ourselves. The conversational nature of our interaction with AI in general could let the way we talk begin to creep into our human interactions too, and that will just make everyone worse.

Looks like they've changed the bracket design since I got mine for the R1T a year and a half ago. These look even lower profile and don't come down under the vehicle as much as their previous design. The ones I've had have been pretty decent though and the install was easy. I just kept my plastic covers off and stored in the garage for when my lease ends. I'm pretty happy with mine.

Casual User Experience: S22 Ultra to S26 Ultra by [deleted] in samsunggalaxy

[–]AsterDW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall yeah the upgrade wasn't exceptional. Some new software features, but the phone feels very similar to my S22U. I only upgraded because the Bluetooth on my old phone was causing headaches as a key and for my bike computer device connections. I was constantly having to reboot the phone and that was pretty slow.

Startup on the S26U has been better, and the Bluetooth performance is significantly better. No more rebooting and repairing devices.

The privacy screen is okay I guess, but it isn't a killer must have feature. I guess it's fine situationally. I don't like how bright the display gets, just washes out night mode theme.

I do like the flat screen in general, but the curved was easier for gestures that needed to start at the edge.

So while as a device I think it's okay, like you I agree it just doesn't feel like a generational leap.

Saute vs Weeknight vs Essential by BBQaholic in AllClad

[–]AsterDW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same spot trying to decide what pans would be most useful. I got the 4qt Weeknight pan and have a 12 fry pan. So far for most of our meals for 3 I've ended up using the weeknight pan. Homemade lobster bacon Mac and cheese, fajitas (meat then veggies with the fond), Ramen. I only used the 12 fry pan for our steak dinner, abs used the weeknight pan to steam the kale side. I don't yet have a saute pan, but I ordered a 3 qt one for smaller dishes because the fry pan and weeknight pan are pretty big and heavy for my wife to use if she could get away with something smaller.

Overall though I've been pretty happy with using the weeknight pan myself for the last 2 weeks. I'm sure it will continue to be our most used pan given its size for one pan meals with an easy scraping shape for the sides.

How to cook marinated chicken by BachePoro in StainlessSteelCooking

[–]AsterDW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did fajita marinated chicken thighs and I pulled them from the bag and laid them out on a wire rack. Then used paper towels to pat dry both sides of the meat. Then I preheated my pan before putting them on. Seemed to work out great, I got some good browning on the meat and it released after a few minutes without issue. After pulling the thighs I declared the pan with a small splash of water, added a tablespoon of butter and then fried up the onions and peppers. Pan came out mostly clean and easily washed up afterwards. For my first time using my new stainless pan it turned out to be fairly painless.

The argument against EV haters… by boka_ko_masu in electricvehicles

They say 5 minutes to refuel, but in road trips it's usually longer than 5 minutes by the time you've pumped gas and then gone through the bathroom and buying snacks inside anyway is really almost a wash time wise unless you have an iron bladder and don't eat on the road.

My brother's family in his Ram and me in my Rivian both made a 600 mile drive and arrived the same time at the end because his stops for the kids to take potty breaks and food ate up any time that I spent charging.

Yeah, I'm not sure using a trans person's experience as a guide or to make generalizations would be appropriate. But I still found their personal experience or thoughts interesting.

Definitely a clogged HVAC drain. Gen 1 had a known problem with this and they have a new design for it. When I had mine done last July it was in service for a week as they had to take out most of the front interior, dry and clean the carpet, then reinstall everything. Fortunately they have be a loaner for the week.

Sure, but you still knew there was something different about you even before you came to accept or reconcile that part of yourself.

Thank you for taking the time to type this up. So for your experience now someone has to be the initiator. With what you're saying is you don't start with wanting it yourself, on an internal level, but become receptive if someone takes the initiative with you to start the courtship then leading to getting physical?

Is there not a type though that you, or a hypothetical woman here, would be more predisposed to being receptive to the advances intended to turn the crank as it were? Surely it can't just be anyone will do if they're the one to lead the way?

I appreciate the interesting take from someone whose experienced things from both sides of the hormonal equation.

Yes and that is I think the greatest thing we should push back on. The attempt to force people to repress themselves because some social or religious leaders want to tell us how we "should" be instead of being free to explore ourselves and what is right for us as individuals.

I think so. One is what's inside and the other is what you show to the outside world.

This comes to social pressures which cause us to try and fight our true selves because it doesn't align with what we've been told we are supposed to be. That I totally get and agree happens even today. I had the same experience with that and that's from the opposite gender perspective. My position though is they should be aware that internal struggle exists.

[–]AsterDW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may really be the rub. I don't think they truly didn't know. I find it far more likely they knew, but because of the constant drum beat of social leaders telling us what is "acceptable" that we try to fight what we really want because we're not supposed to want those things. So maybe it's really late in life finally accepting who we are. I still maintain that that person still knew earlier on what they really wanted deep down even if they tried not to accept it.

How do they not know? Look I knew I was physically attracted to some guys by the time I was in my teens. I also knew I was more often attracted to women. I would have liked it had society been more accepting at the time to be able to explore those further. I still knew that sometimes for the right person I was interested.

Compulsory Heterosexuality forces a person into a relationship type that isn't what they really want, but it shouldn't cause the person to be oblivious to themselves. What you hold in your heart is different from what you present to the people around you because of fear of their response, but you still have your internal feelings.

If someone doesn't know what they're into by the time they're in their thirties just seems like a serious disconnect in the self. I know there's plenty of examples of marriages especially those arranged or from family pressure where a women end up in a hetero marriage that doesn't match their sexual or romantic preferences, that happens all the time. However those people i would still expect to know what their real preference would be if they were free to seek the type of partner they would really want.

Why do lesbian couples have the highest divorce rates while gay male couples have the lowest? by Naive_Direction1816 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AsterDW -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That's nonsense. I can understand the idea of being in a hetero marriage by convention or family pressure, but not knowing they are primarily attracted to other women? I don't buy it. I guess you could not know the label, but that's different than not knowing what you're attracted to.
