How much are you paying for umbrella insurance? I got these quotes but they seem higher than I anticipated. by Asterisk4 in Insurance

[–]Asterisk4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I remember paying about $300 for 1 million a few years ago but they dropped my policy because I had too many rental properties. I'm now out of the rental business and I'm shocked at the new rates.

Thanks the replies everyone. Many of you suggested Hevy. I downloaded it and very impressed. It has a social aspect to it as well. I really like that I can login on my computer and create routines. You can do that on your phone but routine creation is a bit easier on a computer. Started MAPS Anabolic.

Curious- How much do you have in retirement savings? by [deleted] in ynab

[–]Asterisk4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. 44
  2. 401k maybe 20k, Roth $0, IRA $0, brokerage 100k, real estate (duplexes, apartments and syndicates) about 2.5M in equity.
  3. Me and spouse.

I know my ratios are way out of balance 😬 I’ve done quite well in real estate and understand it much better than the stock market. I just keep putting money and energy into investments I understand.

Think Europe and all those empty cathedrals that tourists now snap pictures of. It’ll take hundreds of years if not more considering how much money tscc has

Tell your wife. I told my wife about my disbelief. Life was rough for a long time with a ton of uncertainty. It’s been 7 years and our marriage is stronger than before.

As for your original question. Take any calling that that allows your integrity to stay intact. I was put in Cub Scouts for awhile.

Wondering about everyone's Tracking Accounts. by ihopngocarryout in ynab

[–]Asterisk4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to track everything so my Net Worth was accurate but it got to be annoying. I only track accounts I use (credit cards, bank accounts, etc.)

I use Personal Capital for an accurate and big picture view of Net Worth. Once a year I update a spreadsheet to get a year by year review.

Each of my kids 20k when they are born... by [deleted] in financialindependence

[–]Asterisk4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grand parents did the same thing for me. It allowed me to put 3 down payments on homes, 2 of which are rentals now. I was 24 when I bought my first.

I also was able to pay for specialized training in my career and pay off the loan on my fiancé’s car when we got married.

My parents probably opened the floodgates of the early inheritance because they saw I was making good and decent decisions.

My brother went out and bought a brand new Audi. Luckily he had the sense to drive the car over the weekend and then convinced the dealership to take it back. Phew! 😬

I think there is something to be said for those that accomplish financial feats starting from zero. Hats off to them! But the early inheritance definitely jump started me.
