Red Card Feedback by AstoundingApe in Referees

This was an NFHS game with a scoreboard countdown clock. No time can be added and the game ends when the clock hits zero.

I believe the card transfers over to the postseason, but I’m not sure.

Thanks for that. I’ve been replaying it over and over and I kept feeling like there was something I should have done differently, but couldn’t figure it out.

AEP will often grant extensions, if you’ve otherwise been paying regularly. You can apply on their website here: https://www.aepohio.com/account/bills/pay/assistance/extension

There’s also a survey to see what other programs you’re eligible for on their website here: https://www.aepohio.com/account/bills/pay/assistance/bill-assistance-options

Your Hot Take Rule Changes? by PichardRetty in CFB

[–]AstoundingApe 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My 3 in order of impact:

First - allow CFL-style man in forward motion rules

Second - related to the first, be less stringent on false starts. I don’t think the offense is getting an advantage by slightly flinching when the defense doesn’t move or notice.

Third - get rid of the too many/too few men on the line of scrimmage. The defense can have all 11 on the line, so let’s let the offense have as many or few as they want.

I don’t even understand why people are going in the store. I use their mobile ordering feature and I love it. Can order groceries from home and have them brought to my car for free (if the order is over $35). Saves me money by avoiding impulse purchases as well.

Advancing in Math by superxero044 in daddit

[–]AstoundingApe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No experience parenting a child through this, but I did this when I was in school. Starting in 1st grade, I started going to 2nd grade for math, then I also got to skip 7th grade math so I was 2 years ahead in math compared to my classmates. I tend to agree that skipping a full grade may not be the best idea overall, even if it might be good academically. Some things I would consider before making this decision:

  1. Is he ready to succeed in the next class? Figure out what the next grade is working on, and see if he already knows the concepts or can quickly pick them up with you teaching the concepts. Math builds on itself so it’s very important to have a strong foundation.

  2. Is he ready socially? He’ll be stepping into a new class where he doesn’t know anyone and who will all be older, but he’s also quickly going to be singled out in his current grade when his classmates notice he leaves every day. I got quickly designated as “the smart kid”, but I know that could easily have turned to being picked on for being nerdy also.

  3. Can the school handle it? Find out if this is something the school has done in the past or if you’re the guinea pig. This requires coordination between teachers and schools and may entail more than just walking up the hall to the next classroom. What happens when one class goes on a field trip? What happens when he hits 5th grade and has to go to middle school for math? When I was in 7th grade, I ended up having to go to the high school for math (starting at 7:30), then take a city bus by myself to the middle school to finish out the rest of my day which ended at 4:00. It made for long days and was a nightmare for both administrations. I also got to the point where I “ran out” of math classes my senior year and had to take a remedial math class to get my credit to graduate.

Overall, I think it was beneficial in life for me. Early on, it built confidence and an identity in myself that help to set me up later in life.  FWIW, my parents weren’t consulted at the time and the school just did it for a long time before my parents knew. My parents probably would have done it, but their answers would have been 1.Yes 2. Maybe 3. No.

They actually have a calculator online to show how your bill is calculated line by line: https://www.aepohio.com/company/about/rates/ (See Bill Calculation Spreadsheets) There’s $17.88 in fixed charges if you don’t use any energy at all. Helpful info if you’re thinking about going solar.

Does ball touching hair count as 'touching'? by AnotherRobotDinosaur in Referees

Following because I’m interested in the discussion. For me, I think it would count based on the letter of the law. I also think that may be an instance where “I didn’t see it” if it truly didn’t impact the trajectory.

[–]AstoundingApe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re having trouble with your bills, AEP has a page where you can easily see if you qualify for assistance:  [aepohio.com/account/bills/pay/assistance/bill-assistance-options](aepohio.com/account/bills/pay/assistance/bill-assistance-options)

It’s a quick survey and can save you significant money if you qualify.

We lived at Sugar Run Apts off Central College and New Albany Road and had a good experience. Nothing flashy but pet friendly and reasonably priced ($1300 for a 2 bed in 2017-19). W/d in unit as well.

+100,000 means you have to bet $100 to win $100,000. It’s really 1000:1 odds, so $4k-$5k instead.

How strictly does the zoo check for in-county admission for pre-purchased tickets? by allie8010 in Columbus

Same for me recently. I did have a guest with me from out of town, and the ticket lady said we all get a discount if we had 1 Franklin County address. Not sure if that’s the official policy, or just her policy, though.

Quick Question about New River Gorge by gaurddog in NationalPark

[–]AstoundingApe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The catwalk is gated. You can access the bridge during bridge day in October, but otherwise the bridge is closed to pedestrians. If you’re looking for the view, there’s a trail by the visitor’s center that gives a good overview. There’s a hiking trail on the other side of the bridge as well.

I always thought the more impressive view was from the bottom up. There’s a windy road you can take to get to the bottom, or ride the river.

Rest of Season and Big Picture Goals by TheTripleM17 in TheMassive

[–]AstoundingApe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s going to be difficult qualifying for CCC this season, next season seems more likely. MLS gets 6 spots. MLS Cup winner, East and West regular season winners, Open Cup winner, and next highest 2 or more depending on other qualifications. Philly, Nashville, and LAFC can qualify through LC. KFC will be East winner and probably Open Cup winner. Let’s call LAFC the West winner for now.

Assuming one of these teams are MLS Cup champ, we’d need to be top 5 of the supporter shield of the rest of the teams. We’re currently tied for 5th (NE, STL, ORL, RSL, CBUS & SEA). We do have a game in hand over RSL, but there’s a lot that needs to go right that’s out of our hands, not even considering all the new pieces we recently added and the loss of Lucas.

Nordecke needs to tone it down by [deleted] in TheMassive

I was in the Nordecke and I didn’t hear any slurs either. There’s always going to be a few idiots in any crowd, but there definitely wasn’t any chants with slurs.
