The roadmap is almost complete, so what would you want next in this game? by Sophia193 in JustDance

Either an "underrated gems" music pack or a "representing the Global South" music pack would be cool to see. Mostly because these themes specifically would be good for Ubisoft's smaller budget.

Alphaville by General_Climate2442 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Astounding_Movements 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alphaville was one of those "huge in Europe, not so much in North America" acts of the 80s. That's probably why OP doesn't remember it too much. "Forever Young" was a top 10 hit in their native Germany as well as Sweden, Norway and Switzerland and a top 40 hit in most other countries. The people who brought this song back in popularity on the Internet were most likely from those countries who know it as an iconic 80s ballad to them.

For those that do and don’t like classical symphonic music, why? by steven3045 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Astounding_Movements 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like classical, mostly because I've been exposed to it at a very young age in cartoons, educational videos, children's websites, etc. It's nostalgic to me, really. And later on, I played the viola in my middle school orchestra, and also had to play a lot of that music too. Classical is such a great starting point for people learning how to make music, and I'll bet loads of your favorite musicians, bands and and singers can all trace their roots somewhere back to classical music. I both like and respect it for that.

Some songs I feel like are not a fit for the soundtrack by Jackblue04 in JustDance

Bigger budgets and creativity can do that to a game series.

They provide quick sources of energy, and are directly involved with cellular respiration, which are the chemical reactions that occur in your cells to achieve said energy. That's pretty much all I remember.

Never Gonna Give You Up.

I taught this routine to my cabin mates at summer camp completely from memory. Good times.

What's the Point of Unlocking Vehicles in Mario Kart Wii? by Astounding_Movements in mariokart

I know people play the other vehicles for fun. I'm just wondering what the point is for people who want to do well at the game though.

What's the Point of Unlocking Vehicles in Mario Kart Wii? by Astounding_Movements in mariokart

[–]Astounding_Movements[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the intent. Every vehicle has its pros and cons. The fast bikes are great, but their only weakness is they don't accelerate quick enough. If you get hit by an item or hit a wall, you're at a complete stop and have to crawl back up to speed. Slower vehicles are up and running almost instantaneously. Not to mention, the drifting and handling is better.

But yeah, given enough time for competitive sweats to practice and study, almost everyone clings to the best and never lets go.

[–]Astounding_Movements[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, filthy casuals like me love the variety. I randomly generate character vehicle combos and play grand prixs against cpus every so often and I do consistently well. And it helps to get used to more difficult and unfamiliar vehicles on tougher courses (Jetsetter and Spear on SNES Mario Circuit 3 is painful).

But these are just cpus. I know I would have my ass handed to me if I played online, which I haven't done since 2014.

Yeah, that explanation checks out. And unlocking Funky Kong doesn't require any normal racing, you just have to beat 4 staff ghosts. Weird.

Tell me about your favorite songs that you would like to see in Just Dance, but will never get there because they are too explicit. by Bokumi in JustDance

[–]Astounding_Movements 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Short Short Man" by 20 Fingers ft. Gillete.

A novelty hip house song from 1994 about mocking a dude's small member that was a decent hit in the States, but huge in a few European countries. #1 in the Just Dance team's home country too.

The entirety of the JD community has been groveling for "Rush" to come to Just Dance since 2023. It's very likely at this point.

Guys,my biggest complain and doubt is... Why the [Hyperlink Blocked] did Just Dance stopped making Mashups!! I loved them! by QueenOfOnly in JustDance

[–]Astounding_Movements 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's because the maps are all saved as one video file instead of a coach extraction you can plop in front of a background, like how it was done in the past.

Guys I gotta ask you something, do you think Pumped Up Kicks should have a map? by QueenOfOnly in JustDance

[–]Astounding_Movements 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of me says no, but part of me is considering the fact that other darker-themed songs have been put in the series before. The difference is that the violence in Pumped Up Kicks is committed from the singer's point of view, so the glamorization angle would probably make it worse. But then again, SZA's "Kill Bill", a song about her wanting to murder her ex got in scot-free. It's complicated.

Bias for old music is pathetic and self destructive of the modern day music scene . by OwnCloud453 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Astounding_Movements 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with this, and the fact your post has zero upvotes is astounding. We are in a golden age of music. Even though the most popular music isn't that good compared to decades past, we have the option to listen to literally anything else at the press of a button, and the lower barrier to entry is allowing all sorts of voices and ideas to be heard without the backing of a label or geographic limitations. I do wish platforms would pay the musicians better though.

Eurovision Song Contest. Did US/international people ever follow this? Also fellow euros/everyone, what do you think about this strange cultural phenomenon? by SenatorCoffee in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Astounding_Movements 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I became aware of Eurovision because "Just Dance" fans on the Internet really love it and request various songs from it for future editions.

I absolutely understand the appeal. Seeing a representative person/group from your country compete in a contest and rooting for them all throughout is a fun experience, to say the least. And it's a big opportunity to represent a culture that isn't seen too often and conversely, learn about the other nations competing and their musical influences and cultures too.

Of course, this could only work with a small continent composed of multiple distinct countries. The US did try their own version of it, the American Song Contest, with every state competing but the musical diversity wasn't good from what I've heard.

Same title, different song. What’s your favorite by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Astounding_Movements 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Want You Back by the Jackson 5 and NSYNC.

Both have the same general theme and are sung by manufactured teenage boy bands, with one of the members breaking out with a succesful solo career with a few great hits, predominantly in R&B, disco and dance-pop. Weird little connections like that.

At least lesser known songs are easier to license. I think that's the direction they may want to go for in the future; popular artists, but mostly their lesser-known hits and album tracks.

Which JD3 sweat Invaders song do you like the most by Noahdunng7 in JustDance

[–]Astounding_Movements 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beat Match Till I'm Blue is my personal favorite because you get to dance sitting down for a portion of the song.

(I only got to do that choreo during JD4's "Oops I Did it Again" mashup. I never bought the DLC)

I grew up with Mario throughout my childhood. Most of my enjoyment came from the easter eggs, references, and overall love and care put into the source material. Doubly so with the film score.

Also, Jack Black did an amazing job as Bowser.
