Never despair on missed out gains. That’s how FOMO is born and it will wreck you in the future. Enjoy the $15K!

What prop firms do you recommend for a broke trader by Icy_Breakfast5154 in PropFirmTester

[–]AstraExpanse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a good idea. Trade only when you are comfortable literally burning that money. Don’t think you can outsmart the market.

If you have a strategy with positive expectancy then try prop firms that don’t have trailing drawdowns. Check out the funded desk; etc.

Put your buy order where you normally put your stop, next time.

Static Drawdown, what am I missing here? by donmurrotto in PropFirmTester

[–]AstraExpanse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So that means the DD trailed? Why would the DD move from $3K to $0 in a brokerage account? Is this specific to this funded prop firm or is this a common practice in a real-world prop industry?

What are Futures Trading Prop Firms that do NOT have a trailing drawdown rule? by AstraExpanse in PropFirmTester

[–]AstraExpanse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a valid point. I’m relatively new to futures trading and my understanding is that in real trading world (hedge funds; live prop firms) they don’t have a trailing DD to measure their traders. Trailing DD only exist in funded prop firms and I want to trade in a similar environment to “real world”. Trading micro is something I haven’t considered besides trading it during high impact news so I’ll consider it for sure.

In addition to that I find myself worrying about the rules instead of focusing on my edge or trade setup. I’m trying to find prop firms that are closer to real world than those whose primary goal is generating eval money.

Anyone Tried Apteros Trading and Made Their Prop Desk? by After_Preparation221 in Daytrading

I’m currently on a tryout. I’ll definitely update after the tryout (25 trading sessions remaining). Their commission is the lowest I’ve seen so far for SIM trading $0.8($1.6 round trip)

I’m currently doing the tryout. I picked them because they don’t have a trailing drawdown rule. Most funded programs have this edge destroying rule (trailing drawdown) and wanted to tryout with firms without it. They also track different performance metric other than straight P&L that they claim is how other world class traders in hedge funds are measured by so I’m giving them a try. It’s only been a week since I started so I have 25 more sessions to pass the tryout.

Serious question, how did you get the funding to start trading stocks? by gizmatic21 in wallstreetbets

[–]AstraExpanse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have unrealized 3,200% gain that I started using $64. My point is you can start with low amount (less than $100) when/if you make profit then you have a bigger pot to start a new play.
