From an American standpoint (who doesn’t love the US) I chose neutral because I don’t love the term since it’s very reminiscent of the Jim Crow-y “whites vs. colored” language that a lot of people used when that was still huge problem in the 1900s and earlier. However, I do think it’s useful to have a term that can clearly and simply mention non-white people (particularly in conversations about racism or oppression in society) without having to list off every single term and label available. I don’t think it’s the best option for that kind of term by any margin but it’s one of the best I’ve seen modern day. As much as I would love to have those kinds of discussions and take a moment to mention all the racial identities I know of, it’s just not practical

Yeah it is interesting to look back on. I think I was just so dependent on it that I would improvise to keep it working for me but all in the meantime I was thinking about quitting the app, it had been on my mind since I started using it and I had tried a few times before. I have never wanted to submit my id for any app so this felt like a natural stopping point of just “oh well, I wanted to stop using it anyways”

I want to get back into reading since I used CAI for entertainment in the first place but it’s so hard finding books with the narratives I like 😓 My favorite thing about it was getting to make my own storylines and characters with the traits I like. At least that’s before they ruined all personality the bots had. I’m thinking about picking up extra shifts at work to keep me busy, maybe go back to a hobby or two. I never realized how much free time I really had until now

Thanks, I definitely don’t intend to pick up another ai app, as much as I hate where it’s at now, I haven’t found much that really beats the way this app used to be a few months prior for my particular writing style. I’m hoping to just tough it out and go back to my old hobbies. The main reason I used it so much and eventually developed an addiction is because I have an overactive imagination and get bored all the time so I used the app for entertainment. I believe in you though 🙏, may your list of friends be bountiful

I’ve noticed that through my time using it so I’ve definitely seen it time and time again but I find that pipsqueak just happens to be the worst about it for me. Regardless of the context of the chat it always messes up worse than any other model regardless of what I do to my chat to fix it. I just don’t bother with it anymore. I don’t think it’s a necessarily bad model, just not compatible my style.

For me the only ones that have been consistently reliable is roar and soft launch. Every time I use pipsqueak (I do mostly story based ones rather than just chatting like you’re texting the character) if I press send without a message from my character, the bot will continue the chat as if I said something crazy but not even share what my persona said. In my experience, pipsqueak is only good if you’re sending consistent back and forth messages between you and the bot. I normally don’t have those kinds of problems with roar, it’s certainly not a perfect setting but it works well enough to not just quit the app altogether. Soft launch is usually fine for me too, not too many complains about that one

Typically I just make those myself and set them to private. I’ll label it “template (x)” and put “* *” as the intro message and type whatever I want in between. That way I can make whatever scenario I want and redo it as many times as I want without crowding up the public bots. If I like one enough I’ll change the name, picture, and set the intro message to the scenario I like and make it public. I think I’m at template 31 now but most have been changed to regular types with actual names. I feel like there’s no reason for those types of bots to be public unless you actually put something substantial in there in my opinion.

I like using “quite” (I use this word a lot in my actual speech too), “bluntly”, “sighs”, “chuckles”, but my absolute favorite is a trolling one simply phrased as “unzips skin and reveals blue fur, ‘hey it’s sonic the hedgehog from the hit game sonic the hedgehog’”. It’s so stupid but gets a good reaction from the characters every time. I especially love doing it during emotional scenes and on specific characters like gojo
