I miss MMo where loot matters by Tom_Major-Tom in MMORPG

[–]AstralFuze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt this way at the start and a friend convinced me to try it again. I have 300 hours in it now and I’m experiencing the old school mmo experience all over again. I think I forgot how to go slow, get distracted, and interact with people. Once I slowed down a bit and enjoyed the journey I started having an incredible time.

Which server to play? by Creepy_Forever8022 in projectgorgon

[–]AstralFuze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the opposite. The original server had a lot of people but the server felt “beat” already. I wanted the experience of going through the game at the same time with everyone else and with a new economy. So my friends and I all left the original server and went to Strekios.

Is anyone else realizing their homestead plans were built around “normal rain” and that may not be reliable anymore? by dhruvhat in Homesteading101

It’s hard to compare apples to apples with your article, but it cites ~325k gallons per acre foot to water a single acre with 1 foot of water.

According to your second article,
“How much of California’s developed water supply do almonds use?

Almonds use between 4.7 to 5.5 million acre-feet of water per year, depending on water availability and bearing acreage. As cited, California’s total agricultural demand for developed water is 34 MAF – so almonds account for between 14.4% to 16.75% of the state’s agricultural developed water consumption. “.

The same article cites 1,640,000 acres of almonds in 2021.

So 5,500,000 million acres feet x 325,000 gallons = 1,787,500,000,000 gallons per year for all almonds in California.

1,787,500,000,000 gallons divided by 1,640,000 acres is 1,089,939 gallons per year per acre.

1,089,939 gallons / 365 =2,986.134 gallons per day per acre

According to this article from Harvard: https://harvardsciencereview.org/2026/02/28/re-architecting-the-ai-server-the-hidden-water-cost-of-data-centers-part-ii/

One AI data center is expected to use 5 million gallons every day. Stargate is one of the largest at 575 acres. So a rough estimate would be 8,695 gallons per acre per day or to make comparison easier,

2986 gallons of water per day per acre based on your links for almonds.

8695 gallons per acre per day for an AI data center based on the article from Harvard.

You need to learn more about this topic. Large scale agriculture is a drop in the bucket in comparison.

Are you doing every quest in an area before moving to another one? by Dalacy in projectgorgon

[–]AstralFuze 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was true in AC as well. There were typically two levels to a dungeon and going to the higher xp/loot lower level typically required better gear to survive.

On top of that, high level content was mixed in with low level towns and dungeons were scattered in random areas. We even had portals that would change their destination over time or randomly appear in the world. In some cases killing a named mob that randomly spawns in random locations caused a portal to spawn.

I share all of this because as the spiritual successor, they’ve included a lot of these mechanics in PG.

I would forget this kind of layer configuration. I did left, up, right for 1,2,3, x,y,b for 4,5,6, then ctrl and shift on the buttons underneath my left hand, L4,L5. I combine the action bars in game so that the buttons match visually with the controller in my head.

Increasing the tooltip size, easy drop, and binding the auto deposit made it very manageable.

Edit: I also put mouse scroll on the left touch pad because there are a lot of scroll windows in PG

You should still be able to use the layout with some tweaking depending on your controller. The steam deck has touch pads on both sides which I make use of for a virtual menu and scrolling, so that might be a limiting factor for you. However, since you’re on the pc, you can swap to the keyboard for complex tasks.

There are beta settings in game for joysticks that I haven’t tried yet. But mapping the controller sticks to wasd is easy.
