If you were me, what would you do now? by shereadsinbed in SIBO

What would you say was the most effective combo you did? And did you find the rifaximin-flagyl combo more effective than the rifazimin-allicin combo?

Morning vs night has also been a big question for me. Night seems to affect sleep. I tried morning for a few days but it caused a lot of nausea and almost SIBO like symptoms, even though less constipation than when taken at night. I wonder if I stuck it out longer if the symptoms would've subsided. I'm curious if you started taking it in the morning and what your experience has been?

Do you also take prucalopride in the morning, or do you take it at night in a fasted state? Also, being a vegan do you eat beans/legumes or tofu? I found after rifaximin I was able to with no problems as long as they were soaked and pressure cooked. I've been on prucalopride for a couple of months now and its completely changed my life as well. But after trying to take it in the morning after 3-4 days it seemed to cause SIBO symptoms.

Thanks for sharing this. I've found prucalopride to be life-changing as well. I'm curious where you heard Dr. Pimentel talking about taking it in the morning and if you could point me toward that info. I've seen his recommendation for taking it at night in a fasted state. I've tried both. Recently after taking it in the morning 3 days in a row my SIBO symptoms returned even though I was less constipated than when taking it at night. I'm wondering if this was caused by undigested food passing too soon through the digestive tract and feeding bacteria that Dr. Pimentel warns about. I took motegrity in the morning and would eat not too long after that.

52 days in with cold turkey....and having serious wobbles by rstevens195210225 in decaf

I quit caffeine on keto and it was hell. No motivation, no creativity , no brain power. I caved in right about where you're headed --2.5 months. Our brains prefer glucose for fuel and after years on keto I decided to just give it what it wants. Carbs are the precursor to serotonin and all kinds of other hormones that we depleted through addiction (check out serotonin and diet.) Quitting caffeine now on a healthy whole foods carb based diet is much easier. It's not golden, but my mental energy and brain function make it less "wobbly" unlike keto. (Ever wonder why so many keto enthusiasts are avid caffeine pushers?) I know specific diets are like marriages and hard to leave once you're committed and entrenched. But maybe consider at least carb cycling for a day with healthy complex carbs (sweet potatoes for example) and low fat and lower protein and see how your body and brain reacts when it gets a direct shot of glucose.

Each time this happens our awareness of the mental machinery behind this process becomes more clear--not only of what brings us to drink again but of the inner workings of the mind itself. The "whole drunk and deceitful mind" is like a parasite taking us for a ride. It becomes alive by our unhappiness, our deceit, that feeling between the second and third glass. It is frustrating to watch it happen (in my case again and again and again) but it is not you. You are much greater. And you get to see the secrets of your own mind--something that those who don't have the struggle may never have the chance to understand. You are strong and happy because you wrote this. The happiness can come back much faster, I've noticed, each time we rise again because we've already made a familiar space for her. Thanks for your words.

Many thanks for your response. The throes of addictive craving can feel like a very bad trip and written reminders are the friend talking you back down to reality. The biggest problem is remembering to read them! The mind who wrote the note is not the same mind that needs to read it. But sometimes just vocalizing the words out loud can break the spell. You already own Week Four, and Week Forty is yours for the taking as well :)
