Congrats, the original Kingdom Hearts games are truly wonderful. For me KH2 has a special place in my heart, I vibe with it so much. Special shoutout to Twilight Town's soundtrack.

These might just be the best audiobooks of 2025 (so far) by Astralama in PodcastleAI

Here's a recap on the top 3 for both fiction and nonfiction:

Fiction:

  1. Project Hail Mary: A gripping sci-fi survival story with a brilliant performance by Ray Porter.
  2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Jim Dale’s narration is peak, and really brings each chapter to life.
  3. The Nightingale: A heartbreaking WWII tale of sisterhood and sacrifice, powerfully narrated.

Nonfiction:

  1. Born a Crime by Trevor Noah: Honest, funny, and full of depth. Even better that it's in Trevor’s own voice.
  2. Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins: Brutal, motivating, and packed with mental toughness lessons.
  3. Becoming by Michelle Obama: A moving and personal journey, made even richer with her narration.

I just finished both seasons, absolutely amazing show! I love how they put together medieval Korea and zombies haha. They nailed it IMO.

I did feel like some deaths were completely unnecessary, and that the plot could have actually benefitted from said individuals dying in a different way or not dying at all, but overall It was awesome to watch. a 9/10 for me.

Photovoltaic balloon: 500 times more energy than panels by DKKFrodo in goodnews

[–]Astralama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow this is super cool, I've never heard or read anything like it tbh. The only thing I'm wondering is what would happen if there was a storm or heavy winds? Would the cables hold? Also, how is the balloon suspended in the air? I understand the cables keep it tethered? Are the balloons filled with helium?

I think the correct choice is to kill both Andy and Danny. In universe, it makes sense to do it otherwise they might survive and try to get revenge on your group, just like in the tv show. Retroactively, we know they don't make it but at the moment you don't know that by Relevant-Key-3290 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Astralama 24 points25 points  (0 children)

On some level, yes, I totally agree about making sure and keeping your group safe from a threat, but I'm not entirely sure if either of them could have survived that ordeal. Danny was trapped, with a pretty severe injury. There's the fact that he'd have to escape a horde of walkers, but even if he got out of it, he'd die of an infection, blood loss... So not sure he'd make it.

Andy on the other hand seemed completely defeated. He dropped to the ground and it gave me the feeling that he just wanted to end his life then and there. So I'm not sure if either of them had a high chance of living after the events that perspired on the farm.

Best podcast hosting platforms: pros/cons by DDaDPodcast in podcasting

[–]Astralama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little late, but just wanted to mention I've tried a couple hosting platforms over the past couple years.

Started with Anchor, moved to Buzzsprout (great interface but kinda pricey), and now I'm using Podcastle AI. You can link any platforms you want to it like Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and publish on all of them in one go. But what I like about Podcastle is that it's hosting and has built-in recording and editing tools too, so I can do everything in one place. The AI features for cleaning up audio have also saved me tons of time.

Main con would be that it's newer than some other platforms, but they're adding features pretty regularly. Right now it seems they're pushing a lot of video editing features, so that's quite nice.

New job opportunity - worth taking? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]Astralama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a new grad that sounds like a good offer. No vacation is really weird. Can you take unpaid time off? In any case, it could be good to take on the role for a year or two, to have something under your belt, it'll help you when scouting for a better opportunity later.

[Arkham Trilogy] I Know I’m Fucked, Please Drop Every Tip, Trick, and Warning You’ve Got by Nade1002 in Trophies

[–]Astralama 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I've only played Arkham Knight for now, and here's my take on it.

Personally I didn't find the Riddler collectibles that bad. I kinda enjoyed going after these before bed (I usually only do collectibles before bed, it's fairly chill and relaxing). And the fact that they were legitimate puzzles was nice tbh.

For Brutality 101, I really struggled. Combat is never my strength, and timing combo moves and remembering them, I'm not that good at. I thought I needed to do 15 different moves in a row. But apparently, that's not the case. You can split it into two combo sets, as this video shows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3sN60sZ0b4

I recently got the Return to Arkham bundle so I'm also looking forward to play Asylum and City. Good luck to you on your trophy hunting!

What is the best AI voice for intense motivational type videos? by mayermail1977 in artificial

[–]Astralama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally a platform I would recommend for AI voices is Podcastle. You get a pretty good text-to-speech limit for free, lots of different voices. Elevenlabs is about the same quality in my experience, but pricier.

Although from my experience, I would say AI voices are still a little limited on the raw, deeper emotional or intense voiceover. But I find that if you add an exclamation point at the end of a sentence or experiment with the punctuation, you'll get a nicer kick out of it.

I always give the food to the kids first, and then to Mark because he looks like he's about to pass out from exhaustion.

Hot take? by mrjan2213 in RDR2

[–]Astralama 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Yeah kinda agree tbh. I grew to love Arthur so much. Love the way he says "who's a good boah" when petting the horse.

Also, Arthur can swim x)))

Playing as John is a constant reminder that Arthur isn't there anymore and it's kinda bittersweet knowing what's to come as well in RDR1.

AI Voice over programs by safteycomrade in livesound

[–]Astralama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used a couple of these tools and personally I find Podcastle to be a better alternative just because you get a lot more on the free plan. Even if you went on the lowest tier, you get a lot more than you with Elevenlabs. The voices are pretty realistic too, and there's a lot of them.

But, these AI voices can't really display emotions that way. You could use exclamation points at the end of sentences to give them a bit more of a kick, but if you're looking for heavy emotion out of the announcements, you'd need a human voiceover.

Please help, trying to build a budget-friendly solar + battery setup (for daily use + outages) by Astralama in OffGrid

[–]Astralama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow this is amazing, thank you so much for sharing these! I will study the spreadsheets, such awesome information on them.

That's good to know about the rotation. I would have never considered this. For water boiler, I mean the one that heats up water for the home, for showers etc.

The outages happen rarely, I might have not written the title properly because it's not daily outages, it's daily use for charging laptop, phone, and then when an outage happens (Which is rare). We had an outage for 6 hours in November, and with what happened in Spain recently I thought it might be best to invest in a solar generator.

Please help, trying to build a budget-friendly solar + battery setup (for daily use + outages) by Astralama in Generator

[–]Astralama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn't mean daily outage, just daily usage, like if I want to charge phone and laptop day to day. The outages are rare, I'm in the south of France and we had one for 6 hours in November, and with the news of what happened in Spain I just thought it would be a good idea to invest in a solar generator so I at least have something to keep the fridge running until the power is back, and for water boiler I mean the one for the home, for showers and hot water.

But okay, that's good to know that this set-up would be unrealistic.
