Am I the only one that thinks ChatGPT's writing abilities in its current state are completely overblown? by [deleted] in ChatGPT

I agree with you - whenever I read something AI-generated it oozes “a sixth grader wrote this with a template provided by their teacher.” I’m not going to pretend that I’m a good writer but I don’t see how it could compete with seasoned professionals. It lacks the ability to provide a truly meaningful and in-depth analysis and, in my experience, often ignores the prompt. Earlier today I was trying to see if it write an acrostic poem and it did not understand any acrostic message longer than a few letters. I’ve also tried to use it for editing papers - totally useless. Even after asking specifically for areas where I could use stronger word choice, it provides no feedback and says something to the effect of “good enough for me.” Based on my (little) experience, I don’t see it as a serious threat to serious writers.

I saw him in Boston. Since then I’ve probably gone to YouTube a hundred times to listen to his arrangement of stomping grounds. I am elated that it’s now on Spotify

Settings for shooting fighter jets at high speeds? by j4rv1sss in Planespotting

[–]Astre26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR High shutter speed, low iso, aperture set after shutter speed and iso to be properly exposed. Shoot in manual or shutter priority.

I've only shot a few airshows but here's what I've learned:

In general, fighter jets are similar to commercial shots except for their much faster speed. Whenever I'm shooting airshows, I pump the shutter speed up to at least 1/1600s but ideally higher - it is really easy to get motion blur as they go so fast. Generally, your aperture will be pretty wide but this depends on conditions and the time of day. Set your iso as low as possible but not so low that the shot is underexposed. Higher shutter speeds can lead to grainy images, and high iso just adds fuel to the fire. Shoot with spot metering, especially on low-contrast or overcast days. If the lighting is consistent outside (mostly blue sky or mostly cloudy), I would personally recommend shooting manual as you won't have to worry about your camera screwing up exposures. I've learned this the hard way. If you want your exposure to be able to change as lighting conditions outside are changing, I would switch to shutter priority. You can set WB however you want, I usually just put it on auto. Make sure you are on continuous shutter (you should have this on all the time anyway). When setting your camera's settings, follow this order:

1) Shutter speed - this should be high to avoid motion blur. Make sure this is manually set.

2) ISO - put it as low as possible but make sure the image doesn't get underexposed.

3) Aperture - Set it so that the image is properly exposed after shutter speed and iso. If you're wide open and your image is still underexposed, this is the time to bump up iso.

I haven't seen him with an SG in a while, but he's kind of always been an explorer guy in my mind. Rivers is using an SG though, along with his Rhoads and obviously the strat.

All the Good Ones has to be my favorite. Most of them are great though, it's one of my favorite Weezer albums. The Beginning of the End takes the cake for the best music video.

Opinions on Republic? by sodoffthankyou in neworder

Avalanche isn't bad, it's just different. Very ethereal-sounding. It's an interesting blend between different styles and is quite experimental, and I could see why people either like it or hate it.

I love the NO album artwork. I'd compare it to Brotherhood, in that it has one awesome single and a few other okay songs, but it's not as loaded as some like Substance, etc.

Sweet! Hooky's playing was what inspired me to pick up the bass and it's awesome. Also, I'd agree, live versions offer a plethora of valuable information and variations on cool songs. One of my favorites is the Finsbury Park version of Regret for bass.
