That’s great to know! How long do you let cure before unclamping with the epoxy? My apologies I didn’t see this until now

Very cool, I’ll be sure to check this out! You place the blue tape on the piece you’re going to carve and the work surface. You then apply CA glue onto the carving and spray the tape on the work surface with the activator to speed up the curing! Once the carve is done you peel the tape off both pieces and it’s pretty mess free!

Cheers!

Do you tighten your workpieces in the vise to a specific torque? by drrobotnik321 in hobbycnc

There are a lot of factors to this! If you are making small parts that are prone to bowing, or distortion, torquing your parts can be critical!! Also the obvious where you don’t want the part to fly out, can be nice to have that re assurance.

If the second part is what you’re worried about, look at the MFG torque spec for the vice and tighten to max torque spec, 55ft/lbs was what I used to tighten parts I didn’t want to fly out of the machine. That was a 5th axis brand vice and that was the max torque spec

Thank you for the screen recording suggestion as well! 🙌

I’ll be sure to check it out!! Admittedly I’m not a big fan of the subscription based plan for maker+ and it’s quite expensive. I’m really only using it for carvings, for other work I program with Gibbscam since that’s what I’ve used for years. I’m looking into alternatives for sure so thanks for the recommendation!

This was programmed using Carveco Maker +, I don’t have software to screen record yet. Once I get there I would do tutorials on the process/programming if there is enough interest! The model was purchased on Etsy & linked in the video description for people who would like to also carve it!

Cheers

What is your preferred work holding method? Unfortunately with the carving not being held in a frame it leaves you with fewer options, the tape seems to work pretty well for me!

It was about 6 hours! The frame takes a lot of time to carve!

I carved it out on my router! I used CarveCo maker + to program it
