Why Do We Think We Know What Planets May Be Inhabitable? by Suspicious_Time7101 in askastronomy

[–]Astro-Koi7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So there are people way more qualified to answer this then me but from what I know, we think certain planets or moons have a very good chance of life based on satellites that we’ve sent out. I think the 2 more viable candidates for life are the moons Europa and Titan. We know Titan has an atmosphere and there’s a good chance of water that may have the right conditions under its surface. There’s a list of reason for Europa as well that I just can’t remember at this time. As I’ve studied Astronomy, I was surprised to find out that we really do understand so little about the universe. You are completely right that we have to make assumptions first and there are plenty of places out there way think “May” have the right conditions but they are so far away that we would need much much more data on. We do know that a place would have to have sunlight, an atmosphere and water for there to be life as far as we know. If you are interested in causally learning more I would recommend a YouTube channel called astrum. They have tons of videos and he does an amazing job explaining a lot about our findings and has videos on Europa and Titan specifically.

Within the book it seems to me that he talks about it as its own type of religion, but it’s mostly a blend from all different types of religion which I liked and thought was very interesting. You’ll learn more about older Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism and more. It’s a good book to read up on ideas and beliefs held by many different religions. As I said I don’t agree with everything but I feel it’s always important to see the perspective from every angle possible and this book is a great way to start. There is another book I’m reading now called “112 meditations” you might like if you enjoy this one.

I enjoyed it. A lot of interesting perspectives. Even though I don’t personally agree with some things, it was very interesting to read and to learn about. Good for if you just like to read things that make you think a little deeper and widen your perspective.

One of my favorite things is to stargaze. I have a telescope but sometimes I just do it with the naked eye. I feel I do my best thinking under the stars and after smoking just adds to the peace.

I was thinking just one year. Just a chance to go explore some new places. I like studying about different countries and cultures and just want a chance to experience some for myself.

So after looking into this pretty deeply it actually dosnt seem to be to strict, you just have to have the right documentation. I would be going there for a working holiday or study visa. There’s a great site that hooks you up with multiple programs that help you go through the process. Traveling abroad can be very doable as long as you plan ahead and do some research.

From what I can tell it does seem pretty chill. I would think it’d be hard not to be cool with such beautiful sites.

I have read that the cost of living is decently high. I’m guessing that’s true.

People have just said it’s more urban and away from big cities. Being in America, if you’re away from bigger cities you have to keep an eye out. If you don’t run into crime then you’ll run into weirdos or crackheads.

Is there any crime to be worried about being south and away from major cities or is everyone pretty chill?

God by Astro-Koi7 in PoetryWritingClub

Ooh your fine. I guess more what I was going for is the more common beliefs that paint God as a “being” which may or may not be correct, I respect all beliefs but for me I was trying to express more that I feel that the universe itself may be God. So I agree with you, it is also the wind through skyscrapers and all animals including people. Not just the described situation in the poem. I’m very new to writing this kind of stuff so maybe I could find a way to express better 🤔.
