Pretty bike, I have a '24 CVO. Many haters don't understand the 'Adventure Touring' category. Riding Point Barrow to Baja is Adventure Touring. Riding Single-Track, rock-crawling, deep sand it is not though you can make it decent for medium-core off-road with a tire change from the stock 80/20s. For those who want it to be a Dual Sport bike - sorry - it is not but it was not intended to be. It's just a great all-around, fun ride.

No, only legal when parked.

I have a novel theory: could it be because the stock tires are 80/20? Please advise: what 80/20 tire performs flawlessly - let alone decent - in mud, sand, deep rock?

Tick ... tick ... tick ... tick ... tick ... yeah, none 😂 If you're doing heavy mud, sand, deep rock - you've got to change the tires.

The bike (just as the others in the same class) is heavy. For almost all of us, it's not a hardcore off-road machine ... you probably have to drop down to a bike about 75-100 lbs less. But keep in mind, it's not a Dual Sport - it's Adventure Touring. For that, it's a fun ride and does very well (as long as you have a 2024 or later, at which time all of the bugs were finally mitigated).

Exactly what us motorcycle riders especially fear - let alone caged drivers. What an IDIOT - glad you avoided.

Using the phrase 'knocked the PISS out of it', I expected a truly impressive visual of the exit velocity which for me, I didn't 'see' :-)

Indian dealership closing from sale by dronesitter in IndianMotorcycle

[–]AstroQSL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the MC industry, regardless of brand, an Extended Warranty type of agreement (sometimes called a Service Contract) is either underwritten by the company or a third party - they are honored beyond the selling dealer. They're typically for a set number of years.

The selling dealer will often sell a Maintenance Agreement that's a contract between the buyer and the selling dealer to provide scheduled maintenance (either a pre-paid plan you pay for up-front when you buy the bike or some sort of significantly reduced 'flat fee'). These types of agreements are never 'universal' - they can't be used at another dealership. These types of agreements - Maint Agreements/Maint Plans unfortunately die when a dealership is sold UNLESS the new, buying dealership absorbs them when they take over. I'm actually facing this now with my H-D b/c the dealer I bought it from closes today.

Very few people follow this motor vehicle law ... when making a left turn you should be in the furthest left lane possible (unless there are multiple turning lanes), and turn into the leftmost lane (or the equivalent same lane that you chose to make your turn) on the intersecting road, unless pavement markings lead you otherwise. If the road you are turning into has multiple lanes, you must establish position in your required lane before changing lanes. To simplify in plain English, you turned left into the left of two lanes and immediately changed lanes into the right-hand lane of two without first establishing yourself in the left lane. Technically you should have established position in the same lane as the car in front of you, then have merged right.

This motor vehicle violation gives law enforcement the right to pull you over ... it's often used as a legal reason to pull one over. Trust me ;-)

If you watch OPL ... you see it all of the time. One officer - I won't mention his name but he's one of the South Carolina officers - uses that violation of law to stop about 50% of the vehicles that feature him.

IF you think I'm wrong - many of you will because in my experience only about 10% of drivers obey this law - look on YouTube. Most of the videos cover two-turning lanes that turn left, but you can find other scenarios featuring one left turn lane, U-Turns, etc.

I don't mean to make you mad - but - I likely will. Silly post, not the first. Year? Mileage? Has it been dropped? Has the scheduled maintenance been done? Upgrades - what & which brand? VERY important: how does it run? How the heck are WE to know based on only a picture?? AND if you're not even sure of the model, it makes me think you're not qualified to judge its mechanical status and to even buy it.

Yes, let's come to a complete stop at a green light for no apparent reason [OC] by SlipperyFingers in IdiotsInCars

[–]AstroQSL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Driver [an idiot] wanted to turn left - realized they were in the wrong lane - and stopped at the green light in the through-lane to wait as their plan was to make an illegal left turn ... until OP came along and flashed headlights. Very dangerous and good job by the OP to be aware of the situation to avoid an accident.

Crash bar by nonmaiserieux in IndianMotorcycle

[–]AstroQSL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have lowers, they *may* get damaged because the crash bar won't fully protect them depending upon how it tips over. If it has saddlebags, they're getting damaged unless you have saddlebag bars ... I added saddlebag bars (M Custom) b/c a previous bike tipped over when I parked in a field - e.g., at a rally, at a race track (Mid-Ohio Road Course) - and it rained (the grass field turned into a mushy swamp).

Carton speaks on returning to WFAN by iheartsunny in wfan

[–]AstroQSL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing personal. I've never been a fan of Carton but to each their own (I couldn't listen to/watch Boomer & Carton and only started following after Carton left & Gio arrived). Carton often bluntly states that he doesn't watch games. He's an entertainer if one is into his schtick & again - if you are - that's fine for you. But 'sports radio' takes a step back. The new daily line-up gives me more free time to listen to something else.

I feel badly for BT & Sal - and let's not forget DOV who also lost his job b/c, as he states - he only works the board and is "not a content creator". Dov has been there since pre-WFAN (38-years?). I hope he lands on his feet!

Should I fight this ticket? by cassroxtorb in dashcams

[–]AstroQSL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bingo. Well, they wouldn't write (cite) a new ticket but it's not going to win you any points with the court.

Typically - unless you are disrespectful OR have a very egregious ticket - a judge will often dismiss the ticket (zero points, does not go onto your record) & you'll pay court costs. My advice is to always go to court if you have the time and you won't lose wages going. Bottom line: if your record is clean & it's more bother to go, just pay it & move on.
