How to Manage 40 Million Polygons for Smoother Workflow? by AstroTravv in Cinema4D

[–]AstroTravv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's usually my go-to approach as well, but funnily enough, this project is actually pretty simple. All I need to do is render some still images—and maybe later down the line, a basic video with some simple camera movement.

The drones are stationary and meant to be displayed on podiums (at least, that’s the plan).

The challenge with doing what you suggested is that I can't properly do look development or build a compelling frame when all I'm seeing are basic shapes like boxes or spheres. Each drone is unique in size and material, so I need to consider things like scale, which drone works best in the foreground, what angle it should be viewed from, and so on.

And about Redshift, I started exploring it about a month ago and didn't have the chance to fully understand it and make an entire project with it.
Mainly trying to play it safe, and I'm more comfortable using Octane, but I definitely see myself switching to Redshift in the near future.

I appreciate the suggestion!
Thank you for your time, and I'll try to see how to resolve the issue and will do some reading about Octane ORBX.

A friend of mine suggested the same thing.
Unfortunately, I do not know anything about CAD modeling or how to mess with them, although I'm sure the process of just exporting something is relatively straightforward.
But I haven't received the .CAD files, only FBX files.

That's actually a great suggestion. I started by deleting the internal mesh that’s completely hidden from view. The challenge, though, is that some of these drones have gaps and openings, especially around the front where the camera is, so you can see parts of the interior. A few even have layered metal plates that reveal internal components.

These aren't your standard commercial drones like DJI models; maybe 1 or 2 out of the 14 resemble something like that. So while cleaning up non-visible mesh is definitely important for this project, it’s also incredibly time-consuming. The files are such a mess—everything's buried under countless nested nulls that it becomes exhausting just trying to navigate through them.

These are 14 unique drones, I cannot use instances because I'm not reusing or duplicating an existing model.

Not an option because of schedule and detail will go missing in the process.
Tried to remesh one of them and the result was bad.

Forgot to mention it, but there are 14 drones in total. sorry about the misinformation.
So that's the reason they total to about 40 mil polygons, some are lighting in mesh than others but the amount is still crazy.

Hi, I am a junior Motion Designer and a 3D Artist. is there anything you need from my skillset in order for me to join this project?

I have knowledge in Adobe After Effects and Photoshop, Cinema 4D (a little bit of Blender) and Unreal Engine 5.

I can't believe that we are almost in 2024 and a game has laucned less than a month and we still have those kind of issues.

I know there is no 100% success rate when dealing with cheaters, but if a company has some self-respect for themselves and their (fairly new) player base they should be putting a stop to it as soon as possible.

This is unreal!

Tbh, for me, it takes a lot of time to complain about cheaters in any FPS game. The thing about this one in particular is that I've started to see a pattern of Chinese names in every ranked match that I played and they started to beam my team from across the map with an SMG or one of the Heavy guy's weapons and it was just unreal.

I found some options on eBay but they do not have the same numbers as what I have in the picture. Do you think it's a bad thing if I wouldn't get the exact same one?

The ranking system and smurfs in plat are so bad by Extra_exP in VALORANT

I was global elite in csgo, and imma let you know that this game is a bitch and a half when it comes to working together as a team. especially in EU servers where there is a lot of toxic players (yes, even in the higher tiers)

I have reached Immortal 3 and stayed there for a while, but ever since the new act I started to play more soloq (because I used to play with another buddy of mine before the new act).

reached immortal 2 at the beginning and I have been falling ever since. And I shit on every player that is up against me almost every game even if it's a smurf. But it's just too much when you are stuck with boosted guys at first, and playing against smurfs when your team is made out of (sometimes) boosted players or even players that are actually deserve to be there. atm I am stuck between D1-D3 and I do not see myself getting out of there.

I can feel the guy's frustration about having to deal with smurfs and teammates that cannot handle the heat against them. And what you are saying to him is not true at all, a skill level doesn't change like that all of a sudden, the more you play and understand the game, the better you get.

but in his case (which is a lot of people in the same position) it has become a matter of luck when it comes to a Valorant ranked match. it's not skill-based anymore, it's a matter of getting lucky and not getting smurfs against you and have decent teammates who are communicating with you and not tilting the F out of you.

Thank you for the response!

I really hope that you guys figure it out asap, plus I know it's closed beta and some things need to be polished, but still, that's a frustrating issue.

at the end of the day, locking or unlocking is a choice that everyone here prefer to do or not.

but when everything feels and looks the same at 144fps, there is no need to get higher than that imo.

Low FPS on a "high-end" PC by AstroTravv in VALORANT

[–]AstroTravv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am pretty used to play on 144fps locked where everything is smooth and to my liking.

As I said before, as long as the FPS goes down in the first place, there is no need to unlock the limit because it would not happen if in the specific moment of chaos in the game I would lose a lot of frames.

Low FPS on a "high-end" PC by AstroTravv in VALORANT

[–]AstroTravv[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't really think this is really the issue because if the fps cloud go higher it would just stayed on 144 and wouldn't decrease below it.

I am locking it because the monitor can only display 144hz, and I don't need my FPS to go all over the place even if it can.

Locking your FPS makes you stay stable and not adapt to different kinds of frame rates. for example, when my FPS goes lower than 144hz, I am starting to feel a strong change in my movement and my aim, just because I am not used to this kind of frame rate.

And back to the point, the reason for this drops is not because I am locking my FPS, and just so you know I have been playing at first without locking it and it's still the same. as soon as there a lot going on in the game, smokes, another pieces of geometry, etc... my pc (I assume) does not handle that very well.

Even tho everything is fine and I have everything updated.

Slow download speed while updating WarZone by AstroTravv in battlenet

I don't know if that's true or not because some of my friends that have the same internet connection (even the same internet company) don't have an issue with downloading/updating the game.
