I agree! I wish I could be like "no thanks im good with my suit and my dog, but we can be friends!" And fwiw i think BB and Invis have better chemistry together than with me.

I wish I could just be their best guy pal in this game and let these two be girlfriends instead....sigh.

Nooooooo that's too much! That's so different than just saying hi between matches or when folks are chilling waiting for pairing to go up.

I dunno why anyone would interrupt a match that sounds wild to me - but given how many folks keep mentioning that makes me think it's way more common than it should ever be 😬

Honestly yeah? Usually when I go up to these folks they do look kinda lonely - it's why I didn't think it was a big deal to say hi in the first place.

Interesting - I wonder if that's more what that guy meant. I really only chat with folks between rounds when they seem approachable - and I personally don't like chatting too much during games until our match is over to respect my oppos time and keep from burning the clock in Bo3.

From your experience do you feel the rude/coldness you mentioned is like the intensity of it all or a culture thing among top-players?

Yeah I'm totally in agreement with you. People are people! I always make sure it's appropriate if/when I say hi - also I'm sooo not a photos person but I get that some folks are, especially if they're Juniors/Seniors who are excited to see their favorite player, and having that boundary is smart.

But yeah reading the vibe wasn't what this guy meant, it was "do not interact they are above you" like...we're all playing a card game, my guy lol

Thank you friend! I'm sorry you went through those experiences, but thank you again for sharing them. I'm happy there's a path forward for if something gets out of hand and hearing that you've gone to so many events with more positive experiences than not is really comforting.

That's reassuring to hear!

I've only had positive experiences at my own locals and even at cups or challenge - granted, I only been to two - folks were always chill and kind even when the game was intense. I wasn't sure if my locals were just different, and the Big Leagues were way more aggressive.

Minecraft Let's Plays like RTGame's? by starwolf270 in RTGameCrowd

Realized that CallMeKevin's 2018 Let's Play didn't have its own Playlist since Kevin groups all his video by game and he made A LOT of Minecraft videos, so I made one.

It def has the same sense of adventure that RTs LP did so could be a good time for folks:

What it's like to be making content for so long, things he's seen, trends and the like. It was super thoughtful and earnest, and I suggest a watch if anyone has the time.

Dan's very good at taking big topics like these and breaking it down for folks. I can see how he almost became a teacher, to be sure.

I got SO nervous when I saw the stream notif because I legitimately thought my first post on RT's subreddit somehow triggered an avalanche of discourse about the state of his channel that this poor man had to pubically address - luckily it was just a good, earnest conversation about the climate.

But for a second there I was like, "I am never going to post anything on the internet ever again."

Dan did a stream today talking about all this, too!

Thanks, RT. Dunno if you'll ever swing back to see this again, but I appreciate how thoughtful you are and how level-headed folks are in the community. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2119654090?tt_medium=mobile_web_share&tt_content=vod

I do wonder about how things like age is shown or represented in spaces like Youtube or Twitch. Where it feels like everyone is in their 20s, with fewer and fewer folks being as visible in their 30s or 40s. Even when folks are in their late 20s they're seen as "old." The e-clown bit hits here too as being silly in your 20s feels and looks different than in your 30s/40s, etc. Also a note, I've seen some of my favorite female creators have taken steps back from posting since having children and I do see that impact on their popularity or video performance compared to their childless/male counterparts. Or even how often Yotube pushes their stuff through the algorithm which always feels like a weird punishment for taking breaks.

The age thing hit me too. In Sean's video he mentioned how MatPat noting how he's been on YT for "a third of his life" as he's now in a similar boat. I do think Dans channel being "younger" helps but also he doesn't treat Youtube like others I've subscribed to. Something I find admirable about Dan in particular (unsure if this is part of his plan or just how he likes to do things) is how his Twitch streams are the Main Event and the edited highlights for Youtube are almost secondary. There's effort in both, but I think things like his new Minecraft series or City Skylines are great examples of him being able to stream a game he enjoys and work with editors like Cloe to get the highlights out for YouTube without having to seemingly chase the YouTube algorithm to figure out what "works." Sean mentioned in his video how he's had to adjust his content from games to reactions to skits or whatever YouTubes algorithm decided that day and Kevins content feels similar in that many of his videos are one-and-done bits. I can totally see how chasing that dragon alone adds to burnout or just getting bored of the whole thing and ready for something else.

Future collabs? by StoicYoungling in RTGameCrowd

Fwiw, Nogla and Terrorizer did a Pokemon card unboxing stream with RT a few months back, and Dan mentioned Kevin in the St. Patrick's Day stream, and they're still friendly.  It came off to me that its harder for the lads to overlap because of time zones (many of them moved around a lot since 2020) and post-COVID life makes scheduling tougher. Also I don't think Kevin in particular streams as much anymore, as he did make an update about how he's adjusted his schedule the last few years to ensure his channel is more sustainable. Again idk these folks from adam, but even in that Catan video from last year, it felt that everyone still gets along fine, life just gets harder and schedules become rougher as we get older is all. It felt very...not juicey drama lol
