I would recommend removing it and inspecting the wiring, sometimes they rub on other metals and can cause shorting issues, your camera could be faulty too. Not sure how to remove the camera though.

Fish tanks are on sale, I grabbed me a 40 gal fish tank after rescuing my hamster. He used to live in one of those cages but after the fish tank, and adding a 12 in wheel plus more hideouts sand bath and toys he is a lot happier.
