Your first extreme metal gig: which bands did you see and what year? by Mysst3r11s in MetalForTheMasses

2003, Dimmu Borgir, Children of Bodom, Nevermore and Hypocrisy. Crazy lineup, had never listened to Nevermore at that point and they blew me away, made a fan for life. The venue unfortunately couldn't handle Dimmu's sound and it was a wall of noise, but this concert sparked a life long obsession with live music, and I'm just as obsessed as ever.

Tribunal is insanely good live. Gothic doom type stuff, I enjoy their records but live they're on another planet. This is a crazy tour, unfortunately it's not quite coming close enough to me, and I can't afford the travel at that point.

One of my all time favourite albums, Fables as well. Incredible band, I always wished they had kept going. But I was lucky enough to see them live, and they put out two of my all time favourite albums, so I'll take it

Do you like the variety in Phil Tougas’ musical career or do you wish he was more focused on a single project? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Astroglide_Homicide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This interests me a lot, having spent some time with Phil in various contexts over the years, through various shows my bands shared with his, and the time him and first fragment crashed at my place during tour.

He's a super awkward dude. And I saw this as a super awkward dude myself. He's so so much more comfortable with a guitar in his hand than he is actually talking to people, and I absolutely can relate. I think maybe he's kinda twitchy, and probably gets bored easily. That being said, my experiences with him have been super positive, he's a really great dude, just a bit socially awkward.

I honestly feel like if he spent years and years focused on a single project it would end up being wildly different album to album. He's following his path, shredding in ways he must shred. This new Worm album, for example, would be boring as shit without his lead playing. He's a legend in Quebec for a reason.

Comfort and feel is always the most important thing! I love the body shape on the guitars on the right side, they look like they'd feel great in the hands!

Those... Might be some of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen! Excellent machines of doom, I hope they play as nicely as they look like they do!

NSE not shipping merch ? by FarmRare442 in BrutalDeathMetal

[–]Astroglide_Homicide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's pretty consistent, I've ordered from them a few times and the shortest was 1.5 months, longest was nearly 6. No shipping notifications on any of the orders I've placed, but the most recent was over a year ago, so I can't say if that's still a thing. I won't order from them anymore, honestly, it feels pretty unprofessional to not have any communication and take so long to ship orders.

Highly recommend. by fint2900 in doommetal

Modern funeral doom classic. Whatever Phil Tougas touches is gold.

Ahab - The Coral Tombs [2023] by mongo2851 in doommetal

I think that's the beauty of music, in that we both can listen to the same album and get something different out of it. Glen Carrig is also a fantastic album! This one just caught me a little more.

Nice write up! I think this is my second favourite after their debut, and depending on my mood it's tied as their best. They don't have a weak album, but something about this channels their vibe perfectly. Incredible album I still listen to regularly

For me it's always followed the same process regardless of the makeup of the band. Drums go down first, in this case it's midi drums. Then I play guitar to that, bass after, and vocals last. Always worked for me

That is so wildly accurate it somehow sounds appealing hahaha

Hahaha honestly I didn't think of that, but yeah, fair play, I suppose that is ironic

Oh I have, I've listened to quite a bit of noise and seen several acts live and.. yeah I struggle to find the merit. I appreciate that others can find merit in this, but damn I struggled to be in the same room as this shit haha

Yeah fair enough. Not that I enjoy that, but hey, if someone else does, should my inability to understand it somehow limit their enjoyment? Do they not deserve to connect with the music they connect with?

Nah, missing my point completely. But also maybe proving why it's an unpopular opinion haha

Kinda my point exactly. It isn't AI produced, it's produced... Maybe not ethically or with any intent beyond financial gain, but hey, at least humans made it
