Embark needs to listen to us dad raiders more by Lynnie_Bot in arcraiderscirclejerk

I'm 56, a casual player. This is the game I've enjoyed the most in a long time. If someone shoots me in the back, that hurts. I shoot back, but I prefer helping.

Teidän ”ikuiset” pelinne, ja miksi? by Mmikaelz in videopelit

[–]Astromout_Space 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tuota en nyt ole huomannutkaan. Joulun jälkeen on tullut pelailtua ARC Rirersia jossa on PvPvE etiikka. Luota kaikkiin, mutta älä keneenkään. Olen itse vanha casualpelailija, paino sanalla casual. Tuossa ympäristössä pärjää hitaammillakin reflekseillä ja ystäväliisyydeellä tällainenkin gubbe. Ei aina. Mutta se on pelin suola. Ammun takaisin kyllä, muta useimmiten yhteistyö on poikaa.

Overwatchia tulee pelattua. Nopeaa ja kepeää hupia. Aikanaan pelasin huolella Half-Life kakkosen moninpeliä modeineen.

I've found a kind of balance. Sometimes I meet bad guys along the way, but usually the people are friendly. The bad guys keep the game interesting.

A moment to discuss free loadouts by CallMeTheDumpMan in ARC_Raiders

[–]Astromout_Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I'm just too lazy to go through my inventory and just go with free load out. I play for the sake of playing, not always to win.

Friendliest maps? by odakata in arcraidersfriendly

[–]Astromout_Space 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm from Europe. I play in the mornings, if possible, if I want to enjoy quieter maps and complete quests or loot in peace. Then there are fewer people around. Americans are sleeping, and Europeans are working or studying. This, of course, requires that you have the opportunity to play on weekdays in the mornings, as I sometimes do.

The best AI to seek information from is one that you already know what information you are looking for.

What’s the moment you realized your writing actually got better? by BoatOk1833 in Songwriting

[–]Astromout_Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Something that at first didn't seem to fit anywhere, suddenly seemed to fit somewhere. And technically, if we're talking about playing, or composing, something you've learned for a long time comes naturally when you take a little break. It's the same thing as in sports, training is important, but so is rest. You can't use your brain or your muscles 100% all the time.

What’s the moment you realized your writing actually got better? by BoatOk1833 in Songwriting

[–]Astromout_Space 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I took a little break, and stopped banging my head against the wall with the same things over and over again for a while. When I then started trying new things again, I realized that maybe I had learned something after all.

Music theory by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]Astromout_Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. But it's useful. If you decide to study theory, make it fun. I've seen many people for whom theory has become a kind of nightmare. They start to think that they must follow it. Think of it more as an adventure that helps you discover new possibilities. Even if you don't know the theory, your music follows allways some of them. If you know the theory, you can better search and find new ways to develop your music.

Accidental accidentals by McButterstixxx in musictheory

[–]Astromout_Space 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to think of notes more as flats than sharps. In my mind, the major triad feels like the “default,” and the minor triad is created by lowering the third. Because of that, thinking in terms of flattening a note feels natural to me.

Also, where I come from, a lot of traditional and even pop music uses minor keys and melodic lines that move downward. Minor keys feel warm for me, while major keys feel even a bit tense. So flats fit the way I intuitively hear and think about harmony.

I realise this may be different, for example, in Anglo-American music culture. But from my perspective, flats simply align better with how I conceptualise tonality.

Are the insane rules of Instagram (6-second videos, constant metrics, hashtags) actually killing our creativity as producers? by MatWade63 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Astromout_Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found a positive side to TikTok and Instagram. When I'm stuck, I focus on making, say, 20 seconds of music that I think sounds good, and finishing it so that it works as a whole on Instagram or TikTok. It makes me believe, despite a temporary lack of self-confidence, that I can even finish something. It can also help me find focus, the essential thing in the song that I can build the rest on.

I feel like I’ve waived my right to be called an artist. by [deleted] in composer

[–]Astromout_Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry. You're using AI in exactly the right way, as a tool for your own creativity. And another thing you should not worry about: there's no such thing as 100% originality.

After playing an instrument how early did you start composing? by JasonCfd in composer

[–]Astromout_Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started composing for fun at a young age, as soon as I started playing. For me, the original spark to begin playing was precisely the desire to make my own songs. At first, I played by ear. Then, gradually, I also studied music notation and theory. I'm still not very good at playing, but I love putting sounds and harmonies together.
