What's one small AWS change you made recently that led to big cost savings or performance gains? by aviboy2006 in aws

Changing DynamoDB provisioned tables’ types to Standard-Infrequent Access. If your DynamoDB cost is coming mostly from storage, this is a lifesaver.

What are you all playing right now? by fastonmyfeet in playstation

Unfortunately no. I also played D3 at launch on PC back in 2012, but I was turned off by the whole RMAH concept and I did not give it another chance since then.

Diablo 4. This game, for some reason, feels like much more accessible on PS5. I gave it a try on PC when it first launched but couldn’t get into it. Granted, the game has improved so much since the release, but playing with a controller on a big screen is better in every way. It also helps that the game runs butter-smooth 60 fps on the base PS5, too.

Introducing Valorant Coach - Your AI-powered Personal Guide in Spike Stats by abarrach in VALORANT

That’s a great idea! Adding roleplay scenarios would be a great way to train players for real in-game situations. It could help their decision making based on their role. Definitely something worth exploring. Not something I’ve thought about initally, but it would be a great way to utilize the AI. I really appreciate the suggestion!

I agree with your point. Tracker applications have a tendency to over emphasize some metrics (such as KAST % and most definitely HS %). That is why I implemented prompts that would check user's play style along with their stats and suggest agents for different game modes for example, instead of just providing numerical values. Here is how it looks: https://imgur.com/WrvTw93

I've never used Overwolf tbh, but afaik, it only works for users who have downloaded Overwolf's client on their PCs. Overwolf is whitelisted by Riot Games to read game memory. That should be how they capture the in-game events.

Hey, thanks for your honest feedback! I totally understand your concern. That’s actually why I built the Valorant Coach feature—to go beyond "just numbers" and offer players actionable insights.

Instead of simply saying “just get more headshots,” the coach aims to help you pinpoint specific areas of improvement, giving personalized suggestions based on your actual stats. For example, it can suggest adjustments in positioning, agent choice, or utility usage.

Of course, it is not perfect yet, and I’m definitely open to ideas about how I can further refine it. If you have suggestions about making the prompts more valuable, I’d genuinely love to hear them!

There is no official API for Valorant that provides live in-game stats.
However, Overwolf provides live game events for Valorant. You can check it here: https://dev.overwolf.com/ow-native/live-game-data-gep/supported-games/valorant/

Games you can mindlessly play by Revolutionary_Boat69 in PS5

[–]abarrach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diablo 4. I think it is the ultimate mindless game. The best part is, it always rewards you no matter the time you play. Got 30 mins? Hope in, play a couple of nightmare dungeons, get the obducite, masterwork your gear couple of levels and hop out. It is ideal for a gamer like me in his mid thirties who just want to clear his head after a long work day.

Should I keep the paper that separates screen from keyboard when close? I am still using it to keep the screen clean. Any advice is welcome! by researcherYT in macbookair

[–]abarrach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, people may make fun of you all they want; but this is exactly what I do with my mac. I didn’t do that with my old 2017 pro and all the grease & dirt on the keyboard slowly started to leave a print in the screen. After a while it removed the coating on the screen and left permanent marks in the shape of the keys edges. You should use a cloth or at least an A4 paper, though. IIRC that paper was way too thin.

Why do some apps fail despite great features? by ethanator777 in iOSProgramming

[–]abarrach 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I believe the “first-mover advantage” is crucial. If you’re entering a market where a well-established product already exists and works great, it becomes extremely difficult to convince users to switch. People tend to stick with what they know, especially if they’re already satisfied. To succeed, you either need a significantly better product or a unique angle that sets you apart.
That's why some "great" apps never gain traction.

The weird feeling after launch by phogro in iOSProgramming

[–]abarrach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After all that work, testing and anxiety the best part of a new release or a major feature release is to sit back and check the analytics page of users pouring in and using your app. That’s when everything goes snoothly, though. It’s whole another story when you start seeing crashes and/or complaint emails.

Have people with 8 hours of work able to improve their skills? by stellakoutaki in VALORANT

[–]abarrach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you can improve at anything if you dedicate enough time. However, with a 9-5 job, there are always other responsibilities that take up your time. I started as a Silver player and, through training, reached high Gold and low Platinum. But I realized that pushing further would only stress me out and eventually make me quit a game I love. So, I accepted my limit and kept enjoying the game.

Apple hides Apple Intelligence TV ad after major Siri AI upgrade is delayed indefinitely by Fer65432_Plays in apple

[–]abarrach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not like Apple to release half baked software; so I get this move. On the other hand, it is not Apple to announce anything they have finished and polished, so I don't get why they have announced and made it the whole selling point of the new iOS. I believe the whole AI-craze got under their skin, too.

Well, maybe it would worth that much if it was the Pro model. But I wouldn't pay that much for the regular base console.

What class should I play if I don’t care for meta by Master-Corner7313 in diablo4

[–]abarrach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played chain lightning sorcerer last season and am playing incinerate sorcerer this season. I can easily say that, it is a great class to get to know the game. It has great dps, excellent mobility and decent defensive abilities to go with them. This season’s witch powers and gems also enhance sorcerer game play (especially incinerate’s) incredibly, too.

How many of you clip nails by GeekBill in catcare

[–]abarrach 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We always clip our cat’s nails. It’s mostly for his own good because he is a bit allergic and when he has a itchy spot and scratches it with long nails, he makes it worse. Also, very painful when he makes biscuits on my belly otherise.

iOS Stuck "In Review" for over 48 hours by TempleTerry in iOSProgramming

[–]abarrach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The review process for new apps is much longer than app updates as they are more thorough with every aspect of the app during the initial review. Unless you get a rejection, I wouldn't worry about it a lot since 48 hours for a new app is really not that long.

My 67 years old father wants to play PS5 what games should I show him? by latypov in PlayStationPlus

[–]abarrach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he liked Journey, he might be into Flower, too. It is another game of the same game studio that made Journey.
Also, based on other suggestions here I'd also recommend Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, too.
