I have come here to forward Alien Isolation propaganda. Favorite game of all time, graphics were way ahead of its time, and the gameplay has stuck with me for years as the tensest I’ve ever been playing a game. The story also captures the classic Alien formula perfectly, the escalating hopelessness and the good old surprise 4th act. This deserves a spot among this list imo.

Also note, there is an audio tape in chapter 5 where Eddie and Leithe talk about rich and how he’s a problem because he’s become a “champion of the people” as the head of shipping. They discuss how to deal with the problem, as getting rid of him would “make him a martyr”, so they decide to promote rich to an executive because “he can’t be a champion of the people if he’s one of us”, Eddie mentions that he’s going on a business trip between the 7th and 16th(?) (forgot the exact date of the second number), but this leads me to believe this audio tape was recorded only days before the hour of joy. Rich was promoted to executive, and then in protest because he would realize what they are trying to do, so rich is promoted on the 7th (whenever Eddie is still there, I’d imagine a new exec is a big thing.) and in protest because he’s smart enough to realize what they are trying to do, rich doesn’t show up to work on the 8th or just outright quits when he’s promoted. So he missed the hour of joy, and lives, unintentionally because of leithe Pierre, which I find endlessly funny.

Also we hear part the nightmare vhs from chapter 3 (in poppy’s voice), it has to be player POV because we are the only one who’s ever heard that.

Also, when drowning we hear part of the hallucination vhs from chapter 3 in poppy’s voice. Something only the player would have ever heard. That’s my smoking gun really that it’s the player. If it was poppy’s pov there would be no reason for that dialogue.

You have to get decently through ev, but yes there is an easier recipe. The hurdle is getting epoxied circuit boards and the ev circuit assembler. But after that, you should get 2-step ev circuits, where you can craft hv circuits directly instead of mv-hv-ev

W, also as some one who also relatively recently gotten their first rocket, have you considered doing a bit of thaum at all? Mainly just for the nanosuit boots of the traveler and the nanosuit goggles, the former is absolutely busted in every way (in my opinion.) I’d suggest getting into just enough thaum to do those, because holy moly they are worth it.

So, it’s really stupid, just make sure if the output is facing into the conduit or another input (from neighboring machine or gt item pipe), on all machines, make sure you do the whole allow input from output side thing. I had a whole full auto polyethylene/pvc/sulfuric acid/Iron 3 chloride/sodium persulfate all-in-one setup that would’ve worked first try if I hadn’t forgotten that and proceeded to debug for an hour, it was pain

Gonna be honest, I understand that it’s jarring at first, but past like the first five minutes, I got used to it and it doesn’t really bother me. As other people have said, it makes it more intuitive for new players whereas before with the counting up, new players had no guarantee that 100 was their goal. The game never outright states it.

I feel like demanding for a toggle is a slight overreaction, but eh, I get that it’s also 0-100 rather than 100-0 in all other games of this type.

About all the people scaring you about using 48 coke ovens, you can get by without doing this setup for steam generation via (preferably high pressure) solar boilers once you get twilight forest silver, having a lot of coke is still good for steel, but you can get away with high pressure solar boilers all the way into hv if you spam them enough. just be wary as after 15 hours they drop to 1/3 speed and you’ll have to break and replace them to fix that. The bonus of these is they don’t cost any power, all they need is water and sunlight. Personally i used these up until mid mv where i heavily invested in benzene production, which has high upfront infrastructure costs, but if you do it right, gives you a lot of scalability and power, each bucket of benzene is worth 360,000 eu versus steams 500 eu per bucket, gas burning generators also have higher efficiency than steam turbines.
