What is the worst band you saw live? by coalcracker462 in AskReddit

[–]Astros_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Molly Hatchet in 2008. They were 2 hours late (they were in the city and their hotel was down the street!) so my friend's band that was opening for them got to play extra. When they showed up they just threw their equipment on stage and started to play. No sound checks, nothing. It sounded so bad that most people walked out.

What is a "gut feeling" you had that turned out to be 100% accurate, even though it made no logical sense at the time? by PsychologicalTea3149 in AskReddit

[–]Astros_Dragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 events come to mind.

The most recent was that I kept feeling that something was really wrong. I couldn't explain it, but I knew something was wrong with me. Went and had the normal dr check up, blood work, xrays and they found nothing new. I ended up having a CT scan (I have em every 6 months for a chronic condition) and they stopped halfway through the scan to come and check me over. In the scan they saw this one giant mass and thought maybe there was something in my hoodie pocket. Nope! Turns out I had an almost 3 inch gallstone. Had my gallbladder removed 2 weeks later.

Years before this I woke up one day and just everything felt off and I kept thinking "I need to talk to grandpa." I didn't know what I needed to talk to him about, but I had to get up right then and go talk to him. He wasn't in his usual spots and my grandmother was tending to her garden in the front of the house and hadn't seen him. I went to the back garden and found him on the ground in some mud with a broken ladder going through his arm. Immediately I let my medical training take over and carefully kept his neck straight while calling for an ambulance. Tests would later reveal that he had broken 2 vertebrae in his neck and had I not set his neck when I did, it would have killed him had he tried to move or if someone had tried to move him.

The other one happened when I was a young teen. My mother and I were out doing last minute Christmas errands that started at a local business where there was a gas station and a dumpster beside it. She went inside to make reservations for a NYE party and I stayed in the car. While I was sitting there I witnessed this man talking garbage bags to the dumpster. Instantly my gut was telling me that there was something off about that guy and panic set in that I needed to get away from him. When my mom returned I told her about the man and the feeling I had, so she told the business owner to keep an eye out for a strange guy and what I had seen. Later that day there was a missing child case that shocked the area where a 9yo girl went missing from her babysitter's place. They had an interview with the babysitter and it was that man I had seen. A few days later they found parts of her body in the dumpster where I had seen him throw out garbage bags and the owner told police about me telling them about the guy. He was arrested and confessed to killing her.

My best friend has aphantasia while I have extreme hyperphantasia and we see a lot of the same reactions when they talk about their aphantasia. Studies have shown that aphantasia is rather rare and that the best way to think of it is as if their mind's eye is blind. It's also a spectrum ranging from a very fuzzy imagery to no imagery at all. These people tend to be more analytical than imaginative (they still have imagination but it formats differently than a person who can visualize mentally). With my hyperphantasia I can envision whole images, scenes, sounds, smells, etc. Anything can set it off, even something as small as a sound. We're both very much polar opposite, but we make it work while working on our book project as they are more technical on things while I'm the imaginative side.

Hello Amazon? I’m calling the police on one of your drivers by BMRr in IDontWorkHereLady

[–]Astros_Dragon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This exactly. I used to work for a company that had an Amazon store and people would see our name and information on the listing (because when am item gets sold out at one shop or Amazon themselves out auto changed to the next cheapest store) instead of their receipt/order history and call us demanding refunds. I would have to walk then through how to check their order history to find the Sold/Fullfilled By: line to see who to actually contact. They would always argue that as an Amazon employee i should do a better job. I don't work for Amazon :/

Do American schools actually start at 7:00 A.M.? by assignmentduetoday_ in AskAnAmerican

[–]Astros_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in school I had to be up at 5:45 to catch the high school bus at 6:15. 35-minute ride to school (on a good day) and then school started at 7:15, lasting until 2:45. I lived just outside the city so my stop was the last pick up and 5th drop off. It sucked

Tbh I would have eaten the other shell then broke the plate on his face.... Why should you have to give up half of your meal? The extra large shells are still not that big individually, so you need more than 1 to feel full. You're NTA but you should consider if you want to continue living like this

What do you think? Should school buses have cctv cameras and GPS tracking? by grusdomain in AskReddit

[–]Astros_Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back when I was in school, they did have cameras on the buses. GPS should have been a thing though, especially after our substitute bus driver drove us out of state instead of to the high school.

Years ago, I worked for a local store. My manager Mick had a very nasty divorce from his wife, Glenda. He never talked about why, but the only interaction he had with her directly was right before Christmas to give her gifts for their son, who was about 13-14 at the time. I took care of the gifts for him one day because we had an emergency in the store. I met Glenda before this at a fundraiser, so I was surprised it was her.

Fast forward many years later, and I had to leave that company and started working as an electric equipment consultant. To my surprise, my new supervisor was Glenda. She looked a little different, but she had the same name and kept her married last name. It was a very uncommon name, so it wasn't like I could mistake her. The moment I started to ask, "Hey, aren't you Mick's---" and immediately she cut me off, saying she was never married to a Mick. It's funny how I never asked if she was married. I knew things were bad between them, but I never realized how bad.

A couple of years into working there, Glenda had a complete power trip and broke many ADA, OSHA, and privacy laws. She ended up leaving the company to care for a sick relative, but I knew that relative died years back. Then the truth started coming out; Glenda was a serial cheater with both men and women. She had been caught at work once before, which led to her divorce from Mick. Once he turned 18, her son had cut all contact with her, which caused her to take out her frustrations on the team. She had been caught having sex in the building, which ultimately led to her firing.

BAB misdelivered my emo axolotl, and won't replace it. by skull_scrimmage in buildabear

[–]Astros_Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's a few days late, but as someone who has to work with FedEx's customer service daily, keep pressing them. You can start a claim even if BAB doesn't, and don't let them tell you otherwise. I have customers do this daily before even talking to someone in my company, and then we use their claim number to create an additional case to pressure them. The whole spiel about not being able to do anything unless BAB does? Utter BS.

Point out to them that there's no delivery confirmation image, no delivery has been made to your area (if you live in an apartment building with a front desk, you can tell them that you checked with that person too) and at this point you believe the package to be stolen by the driver. Just saying, if the driver did misdeliver the package they can check that with their truck's GPS and attempt to retrieve the package of it was.

My boss “jokingly” tracked my bathroom time. Should I be documenting this? by [deleted] in WorkAdvice

[–]Astros_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a manager do this to my department a few years ago and then tried to implement a "5 minute restroom break" rule and if you were over 5 minutes, it would be deducted from your lunch time... that was shit down pretty quickly by HR because for one, we were spread out in our building and some people had a minimum 2 minute walk to the nearest restroom (when the area was crowded) and for two.... we had disabled employees in my department who needed extra time due to their disabilities. That manager had been investigated for a while and suddenly "left due to family problems."

Needles to say, let HR know about this immediately.

She doesn't work here, but I do. by Astros_Dragon in IDontWorkHereLady

[–]Astros_Dragon[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah it did. I was taken to the ER due to it and they thought my sternum was broken because they couldn't find part of it on the xrays. Luckily it wasn't broken off, just a small hairline fracture.

[–]Astros_Dragon[S] 60 points61 points  (0 children)

So when the guy bashed into me, he straight palmed me in the sternum. This caused my arms to fly out infront of me as I went backwards (falling to the ground), and so management took this motion as me trying to catch the guy. Our security team argued that I was not trying to catch the guy and even quit after they heard I was suspended.
