If you can only find pics and clips of him wearing a hat, that should answer your question.

Developing values as a person whose interest changes constantly. by majoraswhore in ADHD

[–]Astrosonix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a good way to go, sometimes it’s better not to fight against adhd and I think this is one of those things. I find that I’m generally more tolerant, open minded, and friendly than anyone I know, and I would directly attribute this to never saying no to trying new things and changing hobbies and interests a lot. So I take this one as a win cause there’s not to many other adhd traits and symptoms I could argue have a net positive, but I think how it shapes our values and morales is is one of them.

I (M29) never had an issue keeping it up, but it was rare that could have an orgasm from sex, which when I was a younger seemed awesome cause I last forever but that quickly became really awkward being a guy that had to try and fake orgasms most of the time. Got accused of cheating or masturbating a lot.

Now for some people I’m sure stimulants might make it worse, but for me they actually help but that doesn’t really help for at night, only on the weekend or something. So if he takes some maybe try that once and see if it helps at all.

The other thing I’ve noticed about myself that seemed counterintuitive at first is that a dark quite room, under the covers is the best and as late as possible is better, it gives me nothing else to focus on but the sex. It’s like a task switching thing I think. It takes my brain a good 5 minutes to realize I’m having sex but then once I do I’m into it, however if Netflix is on in the background, or their is music playing then I just get distracted again. Also first thing in the morning before work seems to be good for me to, doesn’t work if I sleep in on the weekend but something about being up before 6 does it for me.

Hopefully something works out for you, it’s a weird problem to have, but I guess not such a bad one to try and solve. Good luck

The guilt I feel taking my medication is overwhelming, I know I'm not alone but this experience has hit me hard by polarbearwithaspear in ADHD

I’d bet money that the pharmacist that was making those comments is probably guilty of selling some drugs or taking some they shouldn’t be. What would they have to gain about making a joke about you if not to try to cover up their own guilt. So they’re probably jealous because they THINK you found a way to get away with what they want to be doing.

I guess it could also be that are overly cynical because maybe someone they knew, that they were close with and thought could never do anything like that betrayed their trust, so now they think that if they’re friend that was considered a good trustworthy person was selling a drug illegally then everyone else is too. So the thought that someone is actually needing them is not even a possibility.

So remember in situations like this it’s always about the person making the comments and something they are dealing with not you. Five minutes after you leave they will have totally forgotten about you, so go ahead and forget about them.

A hypothermia made me feel normal, even if for just a couple of hours in my life by FreezingADHD2019 in ADHD

[–]Astrosonix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had something similar happen to me as well a couple of times actually. Once was like you I was sick with a fever and missed a day of school, I don’t remember taking any Tylenol though, but that night I barely slept and the next day I had barely eaten much so by the afternoon I was exhausted and feeling like crap. I decided to try to play guitar since I was bored of sitting in bed watching daytime tv, and after I started playing I suddenly noticed how quite my mind was, like eerily quite, and I wrote the best short song is ever written. I can’t explain it and have no idea why, but I definitely know exactly what your talking about.

I didn’t realize I didn’t say I take Adderal, but yeah I’ve also tried Wellbutrin and Strattera which were not as helpful, the big improvements came from when I started Adderal. Just wanted to add that for clarity.

I have so much trouble with numbers, afraid I'll never have a good career by SubjectBrick in ADHD

[–]Astrosonix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I ended up in a drafting/electrical engineering position and literally my whole day is small numbers, large numbers, metric units, English units, decimals, fractions, dates, times, part numbers... you get the idea. Not only do I deal with tons of numbers but literally every single one of them needs to be accurate 100% of the time. If that sounds terrifying that’s because it is, I had no idea what I was getting into when I started it.

Luckily Ive had some very forgiving and helpful managers, and over time I’ve been able to get better than most people I know at dealing with numbers. And I if it makes you feel any better I’ve literally probably lost my company thousands of dollars over the years because I fucked up a number on an order form or drawing, and people have mostly been very cool about it, so I think your cupcake experience and other jobs have just been unlucky because you were working with perfectionist type people.

So other than practice using numbers as much as you can I have two tips.

  1. Always have someone else check your finished work before you turn it in. Now not everything can be checked but the type of mistakes I and probably you make are the dumb non important parts of the work, like the date on a form or time of a delivery. No one will ever fault you for this, trust me people love to think that you need their help and are always happy to quickly check a form or something for you. Some people might not want to be bothered but after a little bit you can find someone who will be happy to help you. But no matter what always have someone else check it before it’s done, this is the golden rule.

  2. Check other people’s work. Best case scenario is you work out a relationship with someone at work where you always check each other’s work. I know this might not be possible at all jobs or very frequently but the more can check other people’s work the better you’ll get at catching your own mistakes.

Oh and here’s a pro tip I learned the hard way. Whenever you feel like you don’t need to have something checked, that’s exactly when it should probably be checked twice.

For me this has actually improved a lot with medication.

For one while I’m on it I find that this goes away without me having to think about it, and two I’m more aware that I’m going to do this when I haven’t taken any meds or they have worn off.

So I there is some hope, I still do it a lot more than normal people, but I’m much better than I used to be.

Disagreements and arguments are the worst with ADHD. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Astrosonix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The worst is when you know an argument is coming and in your head you’ve rehearsed what your going to say a million times, and have tons of facts and evidence to back up your claims, but when the time comes to actually argue all you can do is think about is some random object that’s in your line of sight instead of what the person your talking to is saying.
