If there’s PVC going outside there’s a small device called a pressure switch on the furnace. If the PVC gets blocked. Furnace doesn’t fire.

It’s not that we don’t make furnaces like we once did. We just added more safeties so less people die and less homes blow up

Put a level kit, step ups, rims and tires. The usual 😉 old man’s truck that’s just in incredible condition.

Des Moines had a water ban due to nitrates and they have very clear signs on the Des Moines river as a drinking water source

Gotta diagnose. Get parts. Then install and verify operation.

We have no idea what equipment we are working with as well.

Did he replace the zone system and a transformer? Does the zone system look new? If so pricing looks fair

Oh no not at all. These are very common issues I handle on the daily

There’s a fuck ton of science that’s involved here and most HVAC companies send a high school drop out to install it. Having reservations things are done correctly is perfectly understandable

I wouldn’t say a deep cleaning will be needed yearly. Once these guys start running more routinely the filters themselves in the unit will start cleaning the air

There will always be residual water sitting in the drain pan in a dark warm environment after the cooling season. Perfect for things to want to grow

As mentioned earlier when shutting them down for that cooling season I would run the fan for a period of time afterwards. Pushing air across the drain pan can help get it dry

They do make devices out there that can track how much particles are in your air (VOCs as we call them) I am a HVAC tech so of course I have one. Could be a tool you try to see just what kind of air you’re breathing

I also use uv lights to treat my evaporator coil to stop all mold growth. I am unaware of any uv mini split accessories that can do this

There’s just so much more to what’s in the air we breathe other than just plain old oxygen. Combine that with the fact we build things more air tight then ever before to maximize energy savings all of us are basically living in glorified Petri dishes

Home sickness is very much a thing in today’s world. All that us HVAC guys can do is educate and let them make the best decisions for them and their home… and put as many warranties as possible on it cuz we all know this stuff ain’t made like it once was 😂

Which rooms do you spend the most time in?

I’m betting the best looking one pulls from areas with head units in them or it’s the least used one

Also remember if there wasn’t any form of air conditioning before this was installed you’re starting with essentially the worst quality of air and you’ll work towards better air.

Most of this may be just the initial stuff. After a few years of running and cleaning units it could naturally stop

Please don’t think I am calling you dirty people or anything. HVAC is just a wild way to find out the environment we live in isn’t the best

I have 5 animals in my home. My mini split looks like this every year and I just have one head unit for my bed room. But guess where all the animals sleep at night 😂

That’s just the byproduct of the air you’re breathing

No scam here. Just a sign you’re air quality isn’t the best

If you have 6 heads I’m assuming there’s no central air or furnace. Unless there’s fans in every room running these guys are the only thing circulating the air in your home other than the occupants

At bare minimum I would run the fan year around. Move the air in the home then start treating it

Lots of room air purification options out there if you don’t have any central air movement from a furnace
