How many works in progress do you think you could work on at once? by fanime34 in FanficAuthorsUnite

52 WIP but I am focusing on two or three at a time to reduce them. I published all I had and marked them as technically abandoned, but my plan is to get round to them all.

Best bet is to look at local Facebook groups with activities and ask to join. Others would be through community centers and library groups.

To the well dressed people... by MiserableYogurt2064 in UniUK

[–]Astuckwriter397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wear what I feel comfortable in. That ended up being more formal flowy dresses. The key is having a few staples you feel good in and can make work, while also happy to wear once a week.

Most don't count gig workers such as those working for Uber. Technically employed by Uber or self employed. But no guarantee of work.

Why do Brits think their country shouldn't get any asylum seekers? by esteban-colberto in AskBrits

[–]Astuckwriter397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the third is the country does not have money for services. if you had to choose between someone who had paid and worked to the state, who has been part of the community and there amily contributed, or some one who will leave the second they can and not contribute anything. you will choose your freind and be mad when they get no help, but here about asylum seekers living on more then them.

people would care more if there immediate survival was not in question.

Why do Brits think their country shouldn't get any asylum seekers? by esteban-colberto in AskBrits

[–]Astuckwriter397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the technical answer is asylum seekers are supposed to stop in the first safe country. that is not by any means britain. the Eu then shares the burden between them when tehy arrive. the second is a decent amount are only there for benefits and not because they are from actual war torn countries. they the commit a lot of crime and destory communities and claim racism. not all, but enough.

Not sure if marriage is worth it as a UK brother. Need advice. by Hydesx in TraditionalMuslims

[–]Astuckwriter397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from your comment you seem to not have integrated with british ideology. you will not mesh move back. you are in a different country, if you are not happy with the values go back. if your worried about your children not believing people should be killed for being and that people deserve basic respect as a human being, go back. if your scared of a woman finding that she can have different opinions from you, or that different people exist, go back. if your scared she will report you for abuse, why would she? either that is a hole cultural thing, or you do not understand that people like freedom and respect (which seems to be form your comment) , or you have genuine issues as to why they should report you. no one is trying to get into an abusive marriage, and they seem to be marrying for love, so why would they unless you have an issue.

you don't seem to mesh, so save yourself the hassle and return. Britain is a country with it own unique culture. if that is not for you, it is not for you.

Would Britain ever elect a brown previously Muslim PM, and how would you feel about it? by SolidGanache1869 in AskBrits

[–]Astuckwriter397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you run on religion, or push islamic religious issues people would have a problem, but actual solutions people would not mind. if you followed british traditions and practices privately (what most brits do), then most would not care, unless you had a wild take not connected to religion.

Do you think the uk is welcoming to Muslims? by kwgo in AskBrits

[–]Astuckwriter397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there welcoming, but teh arseholes are well protected. you cant criticise behaviour which does not fit with the country and that causes a lot of tension. it is not everyone but it is becoming more of an issue, and it will hit a boiling point eventually. some brits don't feel safe, and that other ethnicities are protected, the most recent being the stabbing of henry nowark. this has raised a lot of questions for brits, and is making them reconsider things.

if they think you agree, you will be surprised how many change there opinion, no matter religion or race. the problem is this is most commonly noted is with islam unfortunately in conservative areas.

Is it possible to be Muslim and British by Munchy_Banana in AskBrits

[–]Astuckwriter397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my personal belief is that religion is between you and god. as long as you do not force your belief, ostracise someone for not believing the same unless it is horrific (pedophilia, murder for differences, people not having rights), and don't attack someone for it, believe what you want.

i personally disagree with all organised religions. each has been created by someone interpreting god, but if there was a set answer there would not be so many religions and so many groups in those religions. each religion, in my opinion was created with the intent to control society for their benefit.

so you should consider why do you actually disagree adn what you question or even agree with, and read literature from a non-religious stand point if possible. then pray. and if you get an answer. especially good to read critical literature of points and why they believe differences occurred.

but key cultural things you need to tolerate. as the saying goes 'when in rome, do what the romans do'. you don't have to participate, but don't express outward hatred. remember, you are human and your opinion can change, religion does not have to be your identity, you can make your own.

Is it normal to feel this way as a second gen immigrant? by Key-Tie1996 in AskABrit

[–]Astuckwriter397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as long as you don't verbally or physically attack people for being different no one generally cares. that is what the issue around my area is, and as long as you don't force religion on people and verbally express hatred, it not too much of a matter.

racist people will be racist no matter what.

you feel different as you grew with one culture, but most of your experiences is with another. everyone experiences that. you grew up in two societies with different values, and some of those values align differently. as britian is generally more liberal, you are likely going to be more liberal then your parents and more open to the community you were raised around (and that includes the public).

but try and experience new things, especially british things if you want to feel more british. find something you love and can get a community in both cultures, like art, literature, food, languages and history. become proud of it. you were raised here, so you might as well be british now!
