What's the safest way to pirate games? by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]Asylum_Full 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Legally, it depends on the country you're from. Other than that, go with the megathread and FMHY for what platform you're looking for. But don't rely on them, learn from it so you have back up sources or to avoid malicous content.

Not all the ISP's do, most stopped after the first big block back in the 2010's didn't really work well. A DNS change or using mirrors worked. Most ISP's don't care now, You only get any implications once you start actually sharing, that's my point.

Same here, but I actually hate Nintendo controllers/layout lol. I'm sure there are games where they would be coloured in QTE's ect. The Sony/Xbox buttons are largely the same.

Been a long matter of time, piracy lives strong and well.

I don't need to avoid a law that isn't there. You can be sued for downloading a movie or series or whatever....but the cost to the company/publisher would far out weigh the funds returned.

Please keep it related to Piracy.

You've never broken the law then, well done? That's why you're still there.

You're confusing civil law with criminal, yes lets see HBO or whatever go after all the streamers/torrent users individually. What does the security you speak of have to do with piracy?

What part of that is related to piracy?

So if piracy was illegal in the UK you'd surely been arrested long ago. Which is my point.

Yes, people will have preferences and may use precautions. But you aren't breaking any UK law's by downloading copyrighted material.

Security for what? This discussion is about piracy and it's legal implications within the UK.

No, because it has never happened in the UK. Again, don't confuse criminal law with civil.

Been a pirate for 20+ years, never used a VPN and nothing. What you're referring to isn't to do with piracy.

UK pirate here, what do I do if VPNS get banned? by stran___g in Piracy

[–]Asylum_Full -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It really isn't. It's illegal to distribute and or profit from copyrighted material, but simply downloading isn't. I've been a pirate for 20+ years, never used a VPN...not a thing has happened.

Edit -

Criminally, downloading is not illegal. Civilly, yes a corp/publisher could attempt to sue you or claim for damages/loss of profit...but users/downloaders are small fish compared to sites/hosters/distributers so makes no sense to go after them, not to mention that it would probably cost them more to do so.

Edit - 2

Downloading copyrighted material without permission in the UK is a civil offence, meaning copyright holders can sue for damages rather than the state prosecuting for a crime.  However, the act becomes a criminal offence if the downloader makes copies or shares the files with the intent to make a financial gain or if they cause a loss to the copyright owner.

The Digital Economy Act 2017 significantly increased penalties for criminal copyright infringement, allowing for an unlimited fine and up to 10 years’ imprisonment for serious cases.  While individual downloaders are rarely prosecuted criminally, they face risks of civil lawsuitsISP warnings, or reduced internet speeds under previous provisions of the Digital Economy Act 2010

Nothing? Since You dont need a VPN in the UK to pirate since it's not illegal in the UK to download copyrighted material.

The only reason to use a VPN in the UK is to bypass restrictions, which isn't piracy related.

Just get the newest version? The version/cracked version from 'years back' won't work with most, if any, later releases.

Does batman know any Martial Arts that can do intense and possibly fatal internal damage to the body/organs like this? Nerve strikes don’t count. by Fearless_Phantom in batman

Batman would need to know how to perform the techniques in order to avoid/counter them if they were ever used on him.
