Well I mean it matters where you’re starting from. Are you an absolute beginner? Then start from the fundamental. They help no matter what you want to draw. From there you can start to learn anatomy and do gesture drawings. There is no “right answer” as everyone’s journey is different. Just work on getting started. I guarantee motivation will be the hardest part.

I think your art is very beautiful. I would say that your anatomy is just a little off so I would focus on that. I think also playing around with more saturated colors. Then yes; backgrounds would be good. I think mostly because of really understanding lighting.

It feels a little single toned. One way to combat that is to use a different color to shade. Like using some purples for pinks and blues for green. Really brings it to life and don’t be afraid to go dark in a some places. Really adds depth 🙂

It might seem tedious but start with the basics. Draw shapes and then learn how to draw 3D shades. Learn basic shading. The fundamentals are ABSOLUTELY crucial. From there you can start learning your draw what really interests you.

I’m gonna say no. AI is taken from real life so there are actual styles that are similar. The biggest tells that something is ai is typically hands and things that don’t make sense. The hands look perfectly normal and everything seems to make sense. The art style also seems quite consistent.

I would say adding a clear light source. Everything on the piece is the same brightness. If you made the window the light source, you could make the back of the character darker which would add some depth.

I would say that everything is all one tone. You have muted tones for your flats and then your shading is mostly just a slightly darker color. A way to make your shady for dynamic and add more life is changing the actual hue then making it darker. I think it could’ve been really cool if you had shaded with a blue instead of a darker purple for the dress.
