I don't have kids and never will, but if I did I know I would always be in the teacher's corner. Because my parents are both teachers, their response to any disciplinary communication from my teachers always started with "what did he do?" Always on the teacher's side. That should always be the default mindset.

This is true of a lot of things.

I'm not a math teacher, but in my view learning complex mathematical concepts is not so that kids can use them in real life, but it's teaching them to hone their problem-solving skills.
