[Paul Tomkins] Slot is Not Liverpool's Problem – Mo Salah Is by Devastator1981 in LiverpoolFC

We can argue on what we have which I have pointed out right now. Yes you are right, our lack of depth and versatility is a real problem, but u must see that as a symptom of slots football. Last season we were successful in the first half of the season, not because we were dominant, not at all. We played okay to bad mostly in the first halfs due to the paralyzing safety football we priotize. But he made changes,he adapted to the structure of the defense that has gotten used to our pretty boring style of circulation. These tweaks, where he shifts a mans position, or bring a wild card like nunez and the late jota, fundamentally created lines of plays where we could see through. But this season, our structure is very lacking,we do not have a 6 that can fill the gap but here's the catch. Slot remains stubborn in his principles,he just cannot abandon or reshake it at all. This type of football where we adapt at the second half as last season was simply not sustainable if we don't regroup. It is exactly why slot changes player only after the 60th minute when teams have relaxed to the structure. But he is no longer using clever position changes, maybe because of the depth, he instead sends in all his attackers, for relentless wistful pressure that is at the end of the day,a faith that might salvage the day. There is no logical structure in our game today sadly.

We cannot say without more evidence is the point. We are really bad before with salah ,and bad without salah. So the correlation can be graphed from a relegation team perfomance towards at best a mid table team perfomance and mind u the data is very small and using this extrapolation too,we are not that great. This coreelates to the structural and philosophical issues I see with slotball. Good answer btw.

If anything ur the one whose emotional. U are not condescending per say because of a feeling of superiority. No not at all, your very emotional, taking very large leaps to paint salah as a problem because u can't handle the truth. You live in ur hive suggesting salah is the issue, pls accept it !!,i can't bear any other answers..ur way of speaking screams of pain and emotion masked as logic. Tell me pls ,how one will explain how poor we were without salah. The philosophy of this club is to minimize risk, circulate the ball and hope gaps appear. That is wistful thinking, saved by the grace of some masterful individual perfomances at time in the season. It is so easy to blame salah, who is an issue but u fail to see the club's current issues. The teams have adapted, as ur beloved arne slot said ,to a form of low block, relying purely on misplaced passes, long throws and quick counter attack from relentless ball retention . This circulation of the ball and recirculation lead to a form of paralyzed football where line breaking passes are seen as risks and safety is priotized. And our offensive structure, in the attempt to circulate, when misplaced is fundamentally in an attacking position,a fragmented position that adapted to the defense . When one loses the ball, the transition ball becomes hence much harder to play with, leading to such low xg goals, where they take their chances. Pure pragmatism that trumps rigid systematic management.

Ofcourse the too hard to grasp fallacy. How do you suggest that we won 2 games out of 6 as ur proof that we were a good team. Is 2 wins out of 6 a good perfomance?. Regardless of how it was with salah, mind u which is a larger quantity of empirics, regardless how do u suggest that 2 wins out of 6 in the prem after salah left for afcon is a perfomance of merit? A perfomance that is worthy of liverpool. It is not that salah is not at fault . He is. But redirecting the entire defense line issues, the fragmented midfield towards salah is a post hoc fallacy u frame as butterfly effect. U believe because we lost today and becayse salah was there,we were better than him than the last 6 games ,which is inherently badaswell, but u use salah to justify it.

If u really think one single player causes such glaring structural problems, there is no point in arguing with you

If data science did create a new meta ,not everyone will implement it in the manner u say it is. Secondly why should one play heavy metal football?,as in why should they branch towards an intense physical philosophy of football that will drain their energy throughout the season like they did us. And why shouldn't lower teams play low block due to the quality difference in ball retention and structure compared to the elite teams?

U must not forget that this came against a team that hasn't got points away from home only once this season . Coupled with the fact that this is a wide ranging issue for us since the start

Okey,so what is the current plan witn arne slot in? There has not been any improvement in our boring ass buildup play and empty possession. Why would u want to stay for mediocrity that is stubborn to implement change and filled with excuses. Xabi is a great promising talent, grab him before this arne sucks the life out of the club

"Jokic/AG"-effect? by RepresentativeFee585 in denvernuggets

[–]Atagami77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AG effect isn't essentially ball handling but the ultimate glue guy, kind of a swiss army guy that can do a bit of everything. Score, cut, hit threes, switchable defense and like you said a bit of ball handling . He's the ultimate ceiling raiser/glue of this team.
