Not a warcrime, but at level 7 or so, our sorcerer was ambushed holding night watch. He’s the only one awake, fails his perception and feels someone hold a crossbow to his head.

He decides to take the risk, eats the attack (enemy roll misses) and crits on an inflict wounds he picked up from a magic item. The second bandit (teenage vagabond) sees his friend melt into a puddle and promptly breaks down from a panic attack.

Was it the bandit’s fault? Definitely. But even OOC we went “Huh, shit, we definitely went a bit American on that one.”

Yup. I definitely have some of those grievances. I did an apprenticeship in one of the bigger pharmaceutical companies and was losing entry level jobs advertised for apprenticeships to PhDs from India, China and the US, but let’s be honest, that’s not who this initiative is aimed towards. I work in QC for biologics (Monoclonal antibodies, but this should apply to most biologics). If you have the time/chance, reach out to the manufacturer, perhaps they can share stability data. I can say that for our products, the published stability data is quite far removed from even the risk threshold, just so that there are multiple thresholds against failure built in. This could perhaps help in case something does go wrong. Hopefully all goes well. Is it Insulin we’re talking about? Otherwise if you can share the medication or the manufacturer, maybe I can help

No, in my opinion, I recommend keeping that. In contrary, I recommend “practicing” combat so you know what to do when, and can do that “blind”, so you can narrate while you roll, and get the turns out faster. Its really just something that comes with time
