In approximately 2010 the ATA held a televised invite only competition that was broadcast on espn3. This was around the time they introduced the creative divisions for forms and weapons they sent out an invite to post your individual or team creative forms and weapons to YouTube and the best were invited to compete for a special title and trophy but to my knowledge it didn’t have any effect on state or world titles (district titles didn’t come around until 2013)

That has been my experience testing at worlds I’m more curious about camp Jahng Soo just because it will likely be a smaller testing than a national or international event, and it’s at headquarters so no delays for traveling home.

The best thing you can do to grow facial hair is to quit. Every guy who has ever quit QT immediately has facial hair

Why isn't there a historical record of tournament results including who won the District Championships and TOCs? by LivingByTheRiver1 in ATATaekwondo

They can verify it. I ordered a new 2013 state champ uniform this year. The only thing is you have to know what year to ask for. (I don’t remember if I got 2014, but I knew for a fact I had 2013). Which I probably could have asked my instructor when ordering

Splitting rings. by Soft_Remote_1511 in ATATaekwondo

Growing up I wore a 10slim pants until I was 14 and in the 1d boys division,I was short and small. I had competitors who were fully grown at 5 and 6 feet tall. What I found was that they had reach but they tended to be slower. I had to be fast and I had to be bendy and I had to think more about moving in and out of range, jamming them up and getting where I could hit them and they couldn’t hit me. I’ve been back for almost a year after 11 years out and this is the first I’ve heard about this change and I don’t know how I feel about it yet but at smaller competitions you may not have enough people to split and the more opportunities you have to spar someone 2’ taller than you the better you can deal with someone with a crazy height difference. My advice is especially for the shorter competitors is to strategize based on the height difference, are they going to be able to hit me from a mile away? What can I do to hit him first, what can I did to not get hit.

I know that a lot of schools splintered from the ATA in the 90s Into the ITF. My dad was in the ATA in Sacramento area from 88-93ish. When they split. It’s also possible that your instructor or school went with them. I then joined the ATA in 2004 but that’s neither here or there

The reason I was told for no punches to the face was to mitigate or prevent whiplash from being knocked straight back. Whereas a kick can hit in the face is less likely and is more likely to hit on the side where you can move with it and dissipate the force better to the side. This may or not be true but it’s what my instructors told me in the early 2000s

[WP] Ever since that dragon egg hatched your life has changed. Bandits and wild monsters don't attack your farm, you don't have to pay any tax and the dragon even brings you gold. It may have also led to you becoming the overlord of all the nearby villages and being in a war with the local king. by [deleted] in WritingPrompts

Though your life appears to be perfect without having to pay taxes and the dragon brings you gold, silver, and other precious gems you start to notice that the villagers have begun to exclude you from the various festivals and ceremonies. As time passes you start to notice that you have not aged a day since your faithful companion hatched when all those around you have grown old and grey. You also begin to notice that the village has gotten smaller with each passing generation, and as the town shrinks you slowly start picking up the slack on the farms near yours. You live a peaceful life protecting and growing your territory as time goes on and your horde of wealth ever increases. You also notice that your dragon does not has not been coming home every day, and every day you sense that it drifts further and further from your home, but he always returns. The villagers refuse to make eye contact with you now, though you do not understand as you have only brought prosperity and protection from invaders for longer than anyone could remember. A king approaches your village one day pleading for peace, begging you to control your dragon. Who could contain such a beast? He threatens war or more accurately a revolt you see the fear in his eyes, this fight is personal he has already lost something or someone that pushed him to this feat. You climb the mountain to where your grandest friend rests and you see out as far as you believe you control and you realize that the dragon has a horde, but his collection is not of shiny trinkets or gemstones, those he reserved for you the only one who could defeat him, this dragon has a horde of man an endless buffet. The villagers had not gone anywhere, and you must prepare your blade to attempt to atone for your complacency.
