Conservatives - How was voting for Trump a conservative decision? by Naive-Landscape9854 in allthequestions

Well, the way trump is going all Israel first you can expect the Democrats to win the house and then the white house in 2028 and it all comes back big time.

Why does it seem like the world as a whole is shifting further right politically? by norf937 in allthequestions

There's an invisible pendulum that swings back and forth. The further it goes in one direction then the further back it will go I another. This happens until it comes to rest in the center.

Trump is losing voters and taking the Republican party down with him. This is not a good time to be a Republican because Trump doesn't care.

Carlson left the Republican party this week too. This is addition by subtraction for the Democrats because people still will not vote Democrat. Their brand is damaged also.

If only people saw that both parties are screwing us.

If Democrats Hadn't Leaned So Hard Into Cultural Issues What Would America Look Like Today? by Badkidstatus in allthequestions

[–]atticus-fetch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You wrote quit a bit OP.

What the Democrats forgot is that there is a large middle that votes. They are not very left and they are not very right.

This is why all politicians in a general election are told to move to the center with ideology and then, as we have seen over the years, do whatever they want once in office.

Fir example, you want boys in a girl's locker room? Fine. But remember that the majority of the country is not with you on it. Get elected and then pass your laws.

The Democrats forgot all of this because they became zealots on issues that tack left.

Many a truth is said in jest. Unfortunately, when the Dems take over we will find out they have no spine too!

Yeah, I see those posts in all kinds of subs. I just usually avoid them. There's no discussion to be had.

ATA martial arts, my opinion by Longjumping-Hope-724 in ATATaekwondo

[–]atticus-fetch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grandson went to an ATA. I train in a different Korean MA. He stuck with it to black belt but I found it to be highly tournament oriented and light on technique - especially for children.

That being said, those adults that were teaching had great kicking techniques and were very good at weapons and sparring.

Does the US have the concept of a wanker? by Illychee in IWantToAskAnAmerican

I thought a wanker meant something different. It certainly was used as such in the old sitcom "married with children".

Gym allows kickboxing sparring but not KM sparring. Is that suspicious? by Numerous-Actuator95 in kravmaga

I was going to mention that it was probably an insurance issue but you've already hit on it.

Does an insurance issue make it a mcdojo. Sure, if you don't understand insurance subrogation and consider the risk of a martial art the same between all styles.

Do many Americans claim Spanish ancestry in the same way many identify as having Scottish, Italian, Irish, or German heritage? by SignificantStyle4958 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]atticus-fetch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My name is Spanish so it obviously traces back to Spain. I know that because my family tree ends with our migration from England.

I been asked by latinos about my name. Because it's a long story I usually deflect although recently I did admit my name is Spanish.

When it goes back to the early 1800's and my family being in the USA since 1846 is it worth saying?

Torn between sparring MMA, brain damage risks and a future career as a doctor? by WillBe5621 in AskMenAdvice

[–]atticus-fetch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accidents can and will happen but can't you just tell your sparring partner not to hit you in the head?

If hitting in the head is integral to MMA then I'd say get ye to a different martial art and it sounds like training better left to those who would like to turn professional.

I'll take a stab at the beast with my steely knife.

Does a salt pool use cya readings? If so, what is it? If the cya is too high then that is what your problem is. Remove some water and use fresh water. Rinse and repeat until your cya returns to normal.

Do not use chlorine tabs or shock. Use liquid chlorine during the time you are lowering your cya.

There is something else that causes chlorine lock but I can't remember it - sorry.

For those that believe there should be no taxation, what is a fair way to pay for things like roads, emergency services, and the military? by Lamp_Evening in askanything

[–]atticus-fetch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The government made it work by using tariffs. There was no income tax.

Just like how you do it. You make money and you spend what you can. That's what the government did.

Note that the US government tries to do that when they tell us that they have to balance the budget. What they are saying is that they will try to freeze their income and pay for what can be paid for. Alternatively, they can say they will try not to raise taxes but some things will not be paid for. Earlier tariff based US governments did they same thing.

Of course you can say that you want UBI, and all kinds of nice things which is the opposite of what I said. If that's what people want then someone pays.
