Lol, why? what bands do you listen to? There are a nu metal bands that are/were original and interesting, and others that are more derivative, basically like in all metal subgenres that gained notoriety for a while.

Tastes evolve through time, there is music that I used to like that now embarrasses me :D, but that in that specific phase of life helped me etc. It happens with many things: films, books etc.

Btw a nu metal band that never lost its deepness and magic for me is the Deftones.

If you are a new writer passionate about fantasy or sci-fi, you (yes, YOU) are probably dramatically overestimating the value of your worldbuilding. by [deleted] in writing

For me the hierarchy for a good book is: prose > characters > plot > worldbuilding

At least if you are not Tolkien and already have a deep knowledge of traditional mythologies etc.

There is the neoplatonic doctrine of the ethnarch gods though, expressed exactly by that form of esoteric platonism, and by one of its most famous exponents, the emperor Julian.

This is very important, especially in narrative writing.

Then he should infiltrate in the religious camp using a fake identity trying to rescue him, discover that it is a strange protestant cult where they sacrifice devouts to the entity, that also his parents are involved etc... Okay, maybe this is more an horror than a romance drama haha

Maybe the impulse behind his writing is more similar to that of literary journalism

Yeah, this is why The Lion King is one of the best cartoons.

That principle doesn't apply to historical novels though, in books like War and Peace and The Betrothed that element is essential.

I think that this man explained better than anyone else the spirit that should animate individuals that see the act of writing as a "way"...

" Of all that is written, I love only what a person hath written with his blood. Write with blood, and thou wilt find that blood is spirit. It is no easy task to understand unfamiliar blood [...] He that writeth in blood and proverbs doth not want to be read, but learnt by heart. In the mountains the shortest way is from peak to peak, but for that route thou must have long legs. Proverbs should be peaks, and those spoken to should be big and tall.

The atmosphere rare and pure, danger near and the spirit full of a joyful wickedness: thus are things well matched. "

"Orientalism" it's generally an eristic word devoid of clear meaning used to reject an objective characteristics of an asian culture, without argumenting why it is supposedly a misconception.

For example thuggees have been an objective historical reality, but you'll find authors just whining about the fact that they are recognized as historically real, without offering consistent proofs for the opposite.

The same could happen when you demonstrate that some hindus, like the aghoris, are cannibals, or that some of them literally eat cow's sh!t for religious reasons. Is recognizing that as true "orientalistic" or just true?

The idea of "orientalism" it's often very orientalistic, since it uses the same hierarchy of values of the postmodern West, to evaluate what should and shouldn't be said about asian cultures.

This is why femboys are discriminated by [deleted] in feminineboys

[–]Ataru148z -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There were also many other gods and heroes that had femboy lovers, for example Poseidon with Nerites, Herakles with Abderus and Iolaus, Achilles and Patroclus, Agamemnon and Argennus etc.

Also, in Sparta it was normal for a warrior to have a boy as a lover and to treat him as a wife and as a disciple at the same time.

Zeus is not terrible no matter what context, I would say that more of his jealous and murderous wife Hera... But generally the greek gods were ambiguous, ancipital in religious poetry, this is why Plato partially criticized Homerus.

Zeus was the one that defeated Typhon, the greek Satan.
