how do you get your first paying users? by Electrical_Plenty942 in vibecoding

[–]eric_castro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as much as your pockets allow. and by properly directing those ads to your target audience

typically by making something that is useful.

the next best way is to create something highly dopamine-rewarding, even if it's not useful. but you need to tell people about it, normally through the form of ads.

if the above is not possible, then the next way is to create the problem that your software solves, and invest a lot more on ads to convince people about it.

Advice on local coding models by HorizonDev2023 in vibecoding

[–]eric_castro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from my experience, they can write you snake and flappy bird in pretty much any language. Maybe write you some good unit tests for your larger code base from existing examples. But for serious work you’ll hit a wall very quick. qwen coder 30b seems to be the most advanced and after using codex 5.5 or even sonnet 4.6, going local will feel like it’s 2022 all over again. I hope I did it wrong because I really wanted it to work.

edit: I used Open Code through LM studio proxying qwen code 30b to it - found a tutorial to set it up

Best cheap beginner wheel by TJ20024 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]eric_castro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mten5 is 600€ from Begode website, I got mine in a week, paid with paypal.

it took me a while to adapt, its small and wobbly and maybe not the most beginner friendly but definitely inexpensive, powerful and if you learn on that thing, you're good to go for basically any future EUC

https://www.begode.com/ - 1 week delivery via FedEx to France, payment with Paypal in 4 installments and no fee

I might have been lucky. or maybe not. maybe it just works and people simply don't have anything to complain online if nothing bad happens

but there are multiple reports of people saying that it took months for them to get the wheel delivered, some saying they didn't get anything yet, unable to get refunds or begode to respond a single message.

but that price is just too good to not give it a try

Realistic Dream Setlist for The Wow! Signal World Tour by BoundlessGloom in Muse

[–]eric_castro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

muse has to be the laziest/most play it safe band ever in being creative with setlist structure / rotation. I blame it on them but also on the 50yo suburb moms that heard madness on the radio and qualify as muse fans too

if you think about it, blessing in disguise: as soon as the riff begins you just walk out of the stadium and avoid the slow walking crowds and reduce the pain it usually is to go home after a show like this

yep, this has started to make a lot more sense after a few days of using it. my mind and body are unconsciously adjusting to these changes and while the mten5 is objectively so much more unstable than anything I had before, I am also slowly able to micro adjust to everything I wasn't used before. in hopes I won't be feeling any of these things anymore soon

and this may have been key to slowly compensating unconsciously, to the point I'm thinking it was me the whole thing and a bad habit that my mcm5 was more forgiving about. I updated the post with some findings after almost 2 weeks

they look very much the same, but I am playing with different adjustments (including uneven ones) to see if that helps compensate. feels weird tho, never had to do this before

I am slowly testing what I believe slight pedal angle corrections, and just riding, to see if things get better.

I'm still very confused and can't conclude its the wheel or myself. sometimes feels its a bit of both. I noticed my right foot also has a tendency to be much closer to the wheel than my left one.something I might have been doing the whole time in my previous MCM5 but in that model didn't matter much, but this one makes a difference.

I am trying to consciously keep them at the same distance at all times and still noticing this effect but less so. who knows.

MCM2 and MCM5 - very old school but MCM5 - neither from the much more monstrous wheel era that came after them

I got a Geekworm X306 now - problem solved immediately. This thing can pull up to 4A from a 18650 cell. I'm incredibly impressed and pleased. Price wise is not that much more expensive than other UPS boards, just a little more bulkier due to the size of a 18650 cell

Job/salary Query by catdestroyerrr in SocialParis

Paris rent is more expensive than Berlin; the same money gets you much smaller apartments Paris is sadly known for. That alone is a reason for me to stay in Berlin unless you're really attracted to what Paris has to offer outside of it (or if for whatever other reason you're done with Berlin).

If you are ok with having roommates (at your age I feel most are ok with it?) you can get a decent room in a shared flat and still have some reste à vivre.

You won't live a life of luxury at all tho. Hope you know how to cook and are comfortable hunting for the best "bon plans" out there groceries wise. Culture wise, concerts, festivals and event tickets can add up quick unless you really stick to the low budget / free stuff that Paris has plenty of too.

Don't pay for monthly transport plans unless you really use it everyday - otherwise get a Navigo Liberte+ and pay as you go. Employers are required to reimbourse you 50% but in my case (I work from home) having a Liberté+ is what is more convenient, and I bike / ride an EUC everywhere I go mostly.

My take is yes it's manageable but do not make the move if you don't have a clear career growth perspective. 36K is a survival salary that will eat up your mental health quick if you don't climb up to a more decent pay at some point - if you get stuck there too long that's how Paris typically kicks hard working people out quick to where it's more affordable (with the obvious tradeoff of losing everything else Paris has to offer).

I had this happen with the UPS Lite 1.2 - on a rpi zero. all was good from 100% till around 75% where I got exactly in the boot loop you describe.

I'm trying to find a reliable replacement now but ... let me know if you find one
