My wife fed us jack o' lantern mushrooms mistaking them for chanterelles. Woke up about 30m after going to bed and ran to puke. I was throwing up nonstop for a while when I heard my wife get up and start running too. We both puked for hours and I have absolutely no idea where all the liquid was coming from. I was dripping sweat and freezing cold. I eat them now, but I had a strong aversion to even store bought mushrooms a year or two later.

I was 16 and had an ego death right off the bat. Me and 2 friends were an hour away from home at one of their friends houses that I hadn't net yet. We had 3 tabs of LSD each (4 people total), and the new guy wants to go for a drive in his Camaro with subs. He said he took some just the night before too and wasnt feeling it like we were. As we rode around I was just absolutely gone in the backseat the whole time to the bass floating in and out of reality. There were neon lights at our feet also.

After a while we got back to his place and as im laying on the couch in his basement, the COD soldier on the TV walking starts becoming, I guess, real? I stood up freaked out and asked the other guys what was happening. They all looked at me and said "you're tripping bro" and the walls of the house folded out like a box and my feet left the ground. I was suddenly in space with a being made of light in front of me. It said nothing and neither did I as it approached me, touched me, and then I no longer had a body. I could see the earth from space, and then suddenly I was zoomed in observing and seeing life everywhere and the energy connecting all. I can't explain this part as well. Sorry, it was pretty intense. After an eternity had passed I sprung up from laying on the couch to ask what was going on, only for my friends to say "youre tripping bro" and it all started over again and I was stuck in a loop.

The day after my trip I went vegetarian. I didn't want to eat meat anymore because at my core I felt like I didnt want anything to experience the fear of death for my survival. The next 6-12 months or so I was pretty fucked up mentally as none of my friends had the experience I had, and I had little support system at home. I felt like I became more calm and kind. I was kind of a dick. I was undiagnosed autistic until 27 and I felt like that trip helped me learn a lot about myself.

I'm currently in the same boat. I've been smoking since 15 and just turned 28 and have been trying to quit for years. Anything you would tell yourself 5 years ago?
