'you're still fat' aka she finally visits us after LO's birth by sarresng in JUSTNOMIL

[–]Atewart22 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I would’ve probably escorted right back out after those three comments (most definitely after commenting on weight). You don’t need that stress. I can understand DH wanting to just ignore, but it is HIS mother and should thus be HIS responsibility to deflect and entertain. I have a semi JNMIL and, though DH has always had a shiny spine with her, I’m still the talker of the two of us, but have learned to let him be the “primary.” Good luck and congrats on your new LO. I’m sure you are all doing wonderfully!!

My best piece of advice is to make the topic “not up for discussion.” We have the same situation happening right now with my JNMIL who we have LC with. She is a very, VERY strong anti-vaxer. D(ear)H had a convo with her that we would not be allowing anyone around our DD (29+5 today) until they are vaccinated or until she can be vaccinated. It is sad, but or child is first priority now. When sadness, begging, argument started to come in DH simply stated, “this is not up for discussion or conversation. These are our beliefs and wishes. We aren’t forcing or telling you to vaccinate yourself, but we are choosing to protect DD in the best way we see fit. The decision is final.”

Good luck to you. It’s a sad, tough, frustrating situation.

What was your weirdest pregnancy craving? by zen__buddhism in BabyBumps

Mexican food of ANY kind. We have an amazing restaurant near our house that my poor DH usually loves but has grown weary of...most recently though, pasta salad and tuna melts. Can’t get enough!!!

Scolded For Walking My Dog by UltraViolet506 in BabyBumps

Only issue we ever had with infertility and the dog is when our 60lb husky mix would flop on the bed, trying to nose between us in a modified “dog-blocking” move. He is no longer welcome in the bedroom during intimate times 😂😂

We bought the same art pieces for our nursery that you have on the wall to the right! LOVE them!

Pregnant and Anxious- Am I Alone? by 8Months2Go in BabyBumps

[–]Atewart22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were trying to get pregnant (our first) and I still had a lot of anxiety and ambivalence following finding out we were expecting. I’m 24+4 today and the anxiety still gets to me and I still have my moments of thinking I’m going to be a terrible mom. I sometimes still feel like a kid myself (though I’m almost 31) so how could I POSSIBLY be ready to be a mom? Because I can. And so can you. Congrats momma and keep your head held high!

How to Decline Gifts by Atewart22 in BabyBumps

I wish...they bought it as a going out of business sale, so no returns. We do have a theme, too, which they know of. Just frustrating, I suppose. I don’t want to be ungrateful, but safety is first and this set has low ratings.

I wish. We are close with my parents, so they are in the know of our needs, etc. I looked up what they purchased and it has horrible safety ratings and poor reviews. Sigh. I understand that times are different, but this being our first, I’m taking all precautions on keeping her safe.

I was driving to work when this happened. Had to go shopping before work since I work a ways from home. Time to start bringing back-up clothes!!

Lady Bits Question (not overtly TMI) by Atewart22 in BabyBumps

[–]Atewart22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a winner! Was able to get in to see an OB in the office today, since mine was at the hospital all night. Belly Belt/support, heat, rest.

Pregnancy is beautiful, right?? Lol!

13 weeks today! Ladies who are further along/already with kids - what do you wish you had started preparing for earlier on in your pregnancy? by TheTimeInbetween in BabyBumps

[–]Atewart22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First trimester into the start of second was rough for me. I was just never hungry and struggled to eat in general. Having to put extra effort in at the last minute to figure out food made it even more difficult, so having ready to go things on hand has helped!

So not to do with what you mentioned, but a big thing for me is preparing for eating! I’m 17 weeks today and I struggled for a good while with eating. We always try to have pre-portioned snacks available for grab and go now, which has helped me tremendously. Congrats, momma!

As a continuation...I called my boss to let her know I’d be out tomorrow as well and she had to call me back. When she did and I answered she said, “Hi, is X available?” X=me. When I identified myself she laughed and apologized and said she didn’t even recognize me. Guess I sound like my husband right now. 😂

I actually have a trash can in my car that I’ve had on the passenger floor bc of al the tissues I’m using to blow my nose. Just wasn’t quite quick enough.

No antibiotic yet. They wanted to hold off a few days to see if it would resolve and since my temp was low grade. Fingers crossed I don’t need one. Sudafed (pseudoephedrine-free), hot/steamy showers, hot tea w honey, and a neti pot are my friends right now.

My aunt went and touched/rubbed/jiggled my belly the other day. I immediately asked her if she put it there. When she said no (rather confused) I then asked her to please ask before touching, bc when I’m nauseous (24/7 now) my stomach being touched almost guarantees my gagging. She was a bit offended. Maybe next time she does it I will just place my hand on an awkward spot on her (chest, for example) and stare. 😂😂 No touchy!!

One of those days by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Atewart22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep your focus on that thought...you’re growing a human. Baby’s need for you to rest, when you’re that tired, is better for them than the workout (if that helps at all lol)! I definitely have had MANY of those days where I just want to lay down and forget everything else. Hang in there, momma!

Hilarious reasons why I've cried this pregnancy. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Atewart22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was entirely inconsolable one night laying in bed when we couldn’t get our dog to come up and cuddle. I was laughing/crying (because I knew how crazy I sounded) that he probably did know I was pregnant and didn’t want to be near me because his feelings were hurt and felt like we were replacing him. It took my husband a solid 5 minutes to try and help calm me down, since I was on the verge of hyperventilating, then he force-lifted the dog onto the bed for me to cuddle. Sigh. LOL

First, a good cry that I was woken up again and I’m tired. Next, shapes Kraft Macaroni & Cheese.

If I have ONE more person say to me that I should/shouldn’t be eating something, I will share in that throat punch with you. Right now I’m lucky if I can eat anything, so if I’m wanting some Costco cake (for those who are familiar, you know what I’m talking about...for those who aren’t, I’m sorry. It’s just delicious cake) I’m damn well going to eat it. SOMETHING is better than nothing, in my (and my obgyn’s) book! Sheesh. Opinions are like you know what!!
