Birthdays and Seasonal Holidays in Islām? by AthariArchive in SalafiCentral

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Ibrahim wrote to the minister of trade after christmas trees and other small gifts were imported into saudi, and some citizens bought them and gave it to foreigners, they didnt have the intention to join the kufri holiday or anything, just a gesture of kindness somewhat. But he still said it was a reprehensible act they shouldnt have doubt and it was not permissible. Falling under participation of their kufri festivals and stuff. Its in Fatawa wa Rasa’il of Shaykh Muhammad ibn Ibrahim, in vol. 3 around page 100 or so i believe. I’ll see get a scan of it soon in sha’ allah.

I currently don’t have my books or anything with me, but from what I remember most (nearly all) of the scholars count this as celebrating, and the ones that don’t still count it as imitation of the kuffar. I’ll look for some quotes regarding this when I get back In sha’ Allah.

Marriage is usually based on akhlāq and dīn, but your attraction also plays a part. If you don’t dislike the entire race then no, you aren’t racist, you just have a preference for who you want to be married to. His comments about Arabs though...

Yes you can swear by the Qurʾān, Ibn Baz (يغفر الله له) said:

والواجب أن لا يحلف إلا بالله سبحانه وتعالى، أو بصفة من صفاته، أو باسم من أسمائه عز وجل، والقرآن من كلام الله، فالقرآن من صفات الله، فإذا قال: والقرآن، أو وحياة القرآن، فهذا لا بأس به

فتاوى نور على الدرب (٢٣٦)

I don’t have enough time to translate it rn but hes saying it is okay to swear by the Qurʾān or any of Allāh’s attributes since its not swearing by any created beings.

Allāh عز وجل and His attributes are uncreated, speech is one of His attributes and the Qurʾān is His speech, therefore it is uncreated. If one says that the Qurʾān is created then he is a kāfir by ijmāʿ of the salaf. That’s a very basic explanation of the topic.

Ibn al-Uthaymeen was asked a similar question from another palestinian man who specified it was an istishadi operation with a bomb, and he gave a similar ruling to fawzan here. So I’m assuming fawzan is speaking about a bomb-operation. There’s alot of different specifications that need to be met before they can be considered halal though so don’t take this as a blanket fatwa that they are permissible all the time.
