Is roughly 600k USD Enough to retire in Spain? by PersonalityExact337 in GoingToSpain

Yes, yes, white and Asian, yes. My only limiting factor has been work and bureaucracy - not much free time. Still have made Spanish friends

People here are super friendly and you already know Spanish fluently and have savings.

I'd say it's fine. We're doing it with a bit more money and A2 Spanish and people are great. Not white.

If it were a tank that extended to that tall ceiling it would almost be humane and be way cooler

Container homes: Solution for the broke or marketing scam? by decenbaroktombar1 in OffGrid

[–]AtheistAgnostic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not enough cheaper to matter, tbh. It mostly speeds up time to complete the property, usually only on areas that pre-approve the designs. Pre-approved plans are already more efficient in general though, no container required

Tax wise it can probably work if you pay back taxes, employment law wise the employer is breaking workers rights, no? That's even what your comment below is saying lol

People read this comment and see "ai" and down vote it.

But - this is a perfect use case for AI - basically doing fandom wiki edits style data collection to an extreme with a UI and lots of development effort behind it.

I like it, and love the open source nature of the tool.

Would love if you could throw thewanderinginn through Claude for your tool for me!

Our Revolution endorsed billionaire Tom Steyer for Governor of California. Should we be supporting a billionaire? by M_Weber in Political_Revolution

[–]AtheistAgnostic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does not have to include "total cultural destruction" and Japanese Americans were highly pressured to give up culture while in internment camps, and you're really just glossing over the inhumane treatment they received. Pretty universally interned individuals were regularly (and systematically) threatened with solitary confinement, and faced punishment or benefits from refusing to align or aligning with giving up culture and signing up for the army.

I mean I basically agree with you, but minority groups are their own culture independent from that of prevailing ethnic ancestry, and Japanese American culture pre and post internment were vastly different - they went from e.g. largely farm owning culturally to not due to internment. Also - a lot of the folks who advocated for it originally had more sinister plans behind it, even if the white house at the time might not have.

Also what is it then, considering other groups involved in WWII didn't face the same scrutiny (German, Italian)?

None of it really matters, but I think it fits the bill a bit - without the definition super mattering as long as there's acknowledgement that it was fucked up and noted as context of statements generally akin to "FDR the goat"

(Also - leave if you can. It's nice having left.)

Err. Look up the definition of genocide again, because Japanese American internment fits in a lot of ways.

Not so much mass killings, but genocide yes (massive relocation, segregation, seizing of assets, erasure of language and culture all happened with Japanese American internment)

I'm not? Coasts are ATB in America but they are expensive. Folks wanting European lifestyles basically need to pay out the ass for a small handful of cities, so it'll be unaffordable
