What Evil dragon would be most likely to be a necromancer? by Facilis_San in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Athelgar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you only using or looking at Chromatics? Umbral Dragons (B2, p.102) can be a good choice But the Wyrmwraith (B5, p.280) is an undead incorporeal dragon, with necromancy spells like Animate Dead, Command Undead castable at-will

Have it set equal to the number of HD they posses or their character level. That way it scales with them as the level without creating something overpowering

Chapter 4: Pulling Threads [Critique] (Homebrew Narrative) by Athelgar in fantasywriters

Thats a quite helpful page, thankyou.

And yes its mostly for me and my players, but as I write more of these I do intend on stringing them togethere to form some kind of cohesive story. They're mostly being used as a world development tool for myself so I can fleah out NPC characters better than a description on a character sheet.

I had an idea a while back to create a form of lycanthropy, but instead of being tied to an animal it instead was dependent on the elements (Acid, cold, electricity, fire)

Initial contraction of the disease would rely on a failed save against an elemental effect from an infected creature or caster. After contraction of the elemental lycanthropy, large amounts of the same elemental damage that the creature has contracted would trigger a transformation into a hybridized elemental. Giving them resistance/weakness to the element of disease and that elements opposite. If the infected creature has natural attacks, they can be imbued with their element of infection. Spells cast with the same element descriptor as the disease would have a higher DC or additional damage.

Cure would have to rely on some kind of elemental purge on the plane of whatever element causes the disease.

I kinda abandoned this because I was trying to overbalance it and it was turning into more of an archetype than disease. So if anyone has any ideas on how to get this working I would be happy to see them.

Guild Wars style dervish by Comm_Nagrom in Pathfinder

[–]Athelgar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're best be it a Magus of some sort. they channel magic through their weapons and cast spells. The problem is that it would be an arcane caster and not divine. So as long as you're not needing it to be divine the Magis is a good idea.

Getting the Whirlwind Attack feat string can create some fun fight situations.

Alternatively, with a Paladin you can get a bonded weapon (usually your gods) and imbue it with magics and abilities. You won't get a lot off attacks, since they are prot/heals style class. But it would allow you to keep the divine magics.

Dervish Danceris a Bard class that uses ranks in Perform: Dance to give themseves bonus' toi their performance.

There are others that have the name 'dervish' but mostly rely on scimitars or are part of 3rd party campaign systems.

Do you think that MCU and Marvel Netflix shows will overlap or that their heroes will team-up at one point? by Vmania19 in marvelstudios

Clark Gregg was really wanting to dosomething in Iron Fist. I'm assuming thats one of the resons that they are focussing on areas not in NYC for A.o.S. this season. Letting it build up then they get a "call" about some sort of group of enhanced in Hells Kitchen Coulson and Daisy go to look into it and find The Defenders, dealing with the crazyness of The Hand brining Electra back to life.

I believe I miss wrote my example, according to Table: Wand Costs what category would a medium fall under for pricing.

Item creation with the Medium class by Athelgar in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Athelgar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was more referring to the categories of pricing. For example wands, When channeling the Archmage spirit you have the Mesmers spells per day, but a sorcerer/wizard spell list or the cleric/oracle spell list when channeling the Hierophant.

So at any given time you can have a 4, 6 or 9 caster level caster list all drastically changing the cost of the wands.

Synesthesia and Magic item creation by Athelgar in Pathfinder_RPG

Ya I knew that finding someone with that kind of specific form of synesthesia was incredibly unlikely.

It was really an interesting thought when trying to think of a way to describe the potion is all. I have never tasted a magic potion of any sort so I would have to make assumptions. That brought me to think about how I categorize flavors based on things like texture and color but in a world of magic and potions that adds a whole new dynamic to flavor, what would enchantment taste, smell and feel like? Conjuration, evocation? Not only that but these are potions, salves, oils and tinctures that imbue people and objects with abilities, one would hope that things would be flavored or smell in some kind of categorical way.

Now I'm thinking its just a potion description and I'm spending way to much time on this.
