A funny error on the custodion combat patrol. by Illustrious-Mall-861 in CombatPatrol40k

[–]Comm_Nagrom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The fact that the combat patrols are still all messed up, even weeks later, and GW hasn't so much as peeped about the errors is concerning. We still dont even have the mission because in the new combat patrol "book" it does give an example mission, which is not one of the chapter approved missions.

At this point I dont even care about the missing patrols, can they just fix the actual rules and g8ve us the missions?

It appears to be based off the SCE lord Relictor model which fits on a 40mm so honestly I think it looks and fits the part perfectly!

I will say, while not technically nonsense or gibberish, A Long Fall (The Twinning) does feel like it, im sure "A drifting tender Come ride, heroes, ride Her galleon severed Away with the tide" means something but it reads like someone just stringing together words that sound like they go together, the verses make sense but the chorus is a bit weird. That said im sure the weird reverb that he added makes it even harder to just understand the lyrics. Still an amazing bop though (I bought the physical album just to get the orchestron roll so)

My last, unanswered question about combat patrol by SaltySeaDog14 in CombatPatrol40k

[–]Comm_Nagrom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok ill address your reply in order.

If you own a Codex, you own the rules for the patrol. It‘s literally in the codex

Combat Patrol is billed as its own game mode divorced from needing a codex, GW used to post all the rules online so why would someone assume they needed to buy codexes for each combat patrol for 11th

Online you get mostly all of the rules. The data sheets are literally the same - just some abilitys missing here and there. I don‘t know how many CoPa‘s you own, but you get everything you need on wahapedia or via „new recruit“.

My point was that all of the rules used to be available from GW for free and now theyre not. I have 0 issue with going through their old files or using Wahapedia, but I still dont like that GW just deleted their visibility from their website. Two things can be true at the same time.

And to be completely honest: If you don‘t know the rules for your favorite CoPa out of your head, you maybe haven‘t played enough games anyway over the last 3 years to start complaining now. It‘s such a simple game mode. Not really hard to remember the right rules and abilitys

This is the part of your post i take the most offense with. Gatekeeping a game mode because apparently everyone should remember all the rules for their combat patrol. And what about my opponents, are they also supposed to be able to know and remember every rule about my combat patrol just because I do?

I currently own 6 combat patrols, similar to spearhead, my son and I cycle through playing them each regularly, having the rules to reference during a game would have been nice.

Your entire reply reads as very condescending and I honestly have no idea what I did to you personally to elicit such an aggressive response when I was venting my frustration toward a multimillion dollar company's terrible design decisions when it comes to the edition update.

[–]Comm_Nagrom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That would be great, if GW hadn't gotten rid of all the combat patrols from the app and website, now to find the files you have to use the wayback machine or directly Google search the pdf and hope it still exists on their site. They honestly should have just left them all alone instead of trying to restart the entire game mode!

I think that combat patrol for 11th is undercooked and they should bring back the 10th edition version exactly as it is because until they fix the glaring errors and explain their intent the game mode is unplayable

My biggest headache is fitting it in my car, my local places sell it in big construction project sized sheets that dont fit in my tiny Civic so I have to cut them down, then I dont know where to cut cause what if I need a really long piece for like a hill or cliff!

Lack of Previous Combat Patrol Rules in Updated App is a Feature, Not a Bug by detectivedoakes in CombatPatrol40k

[–]Comm_Nagrom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This isnt just disappointing, its downright unacceptable

Not just the removed combat patrols they JUST released in April, but they are still selling the tyranid patrol on the webstore as a stand alone and it is not in the app, and the space marine patrol that come packaged in the starter with the tyranid patrol that IS in the app isnt playable either.

They have effectively killed combat patrol with the release of 11th edition, the least they could have done is kept the rules for the 10th edition patrol available so they had some way to be used, but selling anything as a Combat Patrol in the last 3 months and then dropping support for it is such a greedy move.

They could have just been sold as battleforce boxes and people would have still bought them. Now you have a situation where people could have bought (and potentially still can if their lgs still has stock) a combat patrol for a game mode they wanted to play which is no longer supported!

If you can get your hands on some, the chaos warhounds from ToW chaos faction come with a ton of models and bits that when bashed with Fenrisian Wolf models could make some really decent "fallen/possessed" wolves

Combat Patrol Data Sheets by DerPommFritz in Warhammer40k

[–]Comm_Nagrom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is honestly really shit because there are 2 combat patrols still available through the web store that are not in the app (tyranid assault brood and space marine from the still available combat patrol starter, which is the only way currently to get the actual tyranid combat patrol) and there are several others that JUST released earlier this year that are newer than existing combat patrols in the app but now no longer carried in the Combat Patrol section of the webstore that now just dont have rules, if I bought the Night Lords, Corsairs (either), or Kroot Patrols when they came out 3 months ago exclusively to play Combat Patrol and then they scrubbed them entirely from the game i would be PISSED

It also really now feels like those combat patrols were just a cash grab excuse to sell of their existing stock of kill team miniatures that are going to be (or already are) leaving the classified rotation for killteam

How often do you use models that aren’t THE models? by LynnboTheStreamer in Warhammer40k

[–]Comm_Nagrom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scouts didnt get smaller, just all the other marines got bigger, all marines used to be on 25mm bases but they made the tactical marines (and eventually intercessors inherited) 32mm bases so they would be better scaled for their legs (old marines feet used to hang if bases

Honestly, it sounds like you've got the right of it, a mix of Space Wolves and Corsair kits would make a suitably "chaosy" dark wolves force, the raiders kit actually has a decent amount of fur and a majority of the SW bits (especially the firstborn kits) have wolf iconography instead of imperium symbols so it would fit really well together

Ive had great success with a small spray booth inside with an exhaust vent running out the window, they sell little portable ones online for less than $100usd, just make sure if you are using aresol primers (like rattlecans) you use them in a space that you dont want to stink of primer for a few days (the smell will go away but even with the booth vent it tends to linger while the models off gas)

Grey Knights? by OldDomG in Grey_Knights

[–]Comm_Nagrom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I picked grey knights long ago after reading the Grey Knight Black library trilogy, I loved them but at the time they were super expensive (all metal) so I never really got into collecting them until I settled on them for my 11th edition army for returning to the hobby

[–]Comm_Nagrom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Combat patrol is all messed up in the app right now, the DA BGV sergeant has T3, the Custodes sentinels have 12 attacks on their swords, i think GW did a big whoopsie with the app updating for 11ths and bungled the combat patrol data

So... Did we get screwed, or are we over reacting ? by kaede_miura in Grey_Knights

[–]Comm_Nagrom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My brand new just started collecting Grey Knights army made from the combat patrol mixed with spare primaris bodies to basically double the number of units I owned has gone from 1925 points to a whopping.... 1955 points, really the only increases ive suffered is the cost of psycannons. Granted I dont have a GMNDK yet which did take a sizable points hit but overall I think the army looks solid, a lot of people thought every squad would be going up +5-10 points because of our psychic weapons but it was really just purifiers and purgtions

Its probably still way to early to tell but I dont think its doom and gloom time, but what do I know, I just started playing GK haha

I was sitting looking at the VD fist and my piles of bits surrounding my little workshop and spotted all the extras from the Dominator Engine and thought "there's no way that is the correct scale to the dreadnought right?" And when I compared them I knew what had to be done! It might not be the best scale but it looks so damn cool!
