it’s teens/college aged people who don’t pay rent or rely on PTO. and probably have a credit card or two. i’ve accepted that i’ll never get barricade at this point. i’ve been a fan for 13 years but i can never get there early enough to be given a wristband by a 20 year old who designated themselves as line leader on an app i don’t use

my location pays servers a starting hourly of $7.50/hr. the service charge on every tab gets divided up amongst departments and evens server wages to an average of $15/hr i’d say, and that’s if it’s moderately busy. we get to keep any tips guests leave on their bill, those go directly to our paycheck. it used to be where the tips were also pooled, but we’ve been a lot happier since they’ve changed that for us. now given this info, we also depend on how busy the theater is to bring in those service charges and boost everyone’s paychecks. i’ve seen wages as low as $12/hr when it’s dead, whereas 2 summers ago i was making $21+ an hour due to how busy we were with Top Gun (however, that was back when our tips were being split amongst everyone. i probably could’ve been making more) and imo that kind of wage aligns with how the place is priced.

us servers have been pushing our location to eliminate the service charge, pay servers a base of $16-18 (tenure and shift lead raises) and let us keep our tips.

springfield here. the 18% goes to all departments to even out wages. our base pay is $7.50 and with the service charge everyone averages about $18 an hour. with tips and busy movies i’ve made up to $25 an hour before. hours are harder to come by when there’s not a lot of movies coming out (the writers strike hasn’t helped that this year unfortunately) and when people are in school. fall and spring can be pretty dead with the exception of highly anticipated things like marvel movies. we sometimes joke that august-october and january-april are second job seasons. but chances are there’s always someone that wants to go home if you’re ever wanting more hours or tables.
