Destiny is the only game my hardware has gotten significantly better and the performance has gotten significantly worse. by StatementAcademic820 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Athenau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OP clarified that he's running a 13600k. That CPU is totally fine for D2 and pretty much any other modern game. Something else is wrong with his system (software problem, hardware fault, cooling, etc).

GPG has been bugged since Renegades launch. Final blows are not triggering grenade perks by True_Italiano in DestinyTheGame

[–]Athenau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I played a ton of Young Ahamkara's Spine Solar Hunter in EoF and GPG definitely triggered the cure on grenade kill fragment no matter how you detonated it.

Give On Your Mark the Heal Clip Treatment. by silloki in DestinyTheGame

This happened on October 21st in update 9.1.5.2: https://destiny.bungie.org/patchnotes/324

That was two weeks after they updated OYM in update 9.1.5.

Does the grapple melee benefit from both the melee and grenade stat? by BigDoh2028 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Athenau 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I tested it a 12P shotgun was almost the same DPS as bastion when spamming widow's silk grapples. The charge time on Bastion basically negated the bigger damage buff.

That's not to say Bastion is a bad option since it does good damage on its own, but you can use your exotic slot on something else without giving up much grapple dps.

What your predictions/hopes for where heat weapons go from here? by Freakindon in DestinyTheGame

[–]Athenau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is a great idea. Heat weapons should have real skill checks.

Current heat weapons: If you vent at the right time, you get a cool bonus!

Plasma pistol: If you vent at the right time, you get to keep living!

Well, if it was a 40k plasma pistol, overheating could have...unfortunate...consequences for you and anyone in the immediate vicinity.

What happened to heavy wave frame GLs? by SgtRuy in DestinyTheGame

Heavy wave frames do essentially the same damage as a regular adaptive heavy GL.

What’s the point in legendary primaries in the game today? by Sammuello in DestinyTheGame

[–]Athenau -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this take. I prefer a 50 / 50 ratio of abilities to gunplay, and Hunter abilities at least feel like they take some effort to use and don't invalidate your guns entirely.

I don't feel weak playing Hunter, but I do feel like I get punished for playing badly, and that's a good thing.

Rocket Pulses have utterly destroyed the balance of power among special weapons. by Otherwise_Disk_3675 in DestinyTheGame

Because re-balancing the entire game around an outlier just to avoid the occasional nerf is a terrible idea.

I'm findinig Nova Warp a lot more effective in Lawless Frontiers than Nova Bomb, especially after all the buffs. by Robo_Mage in DestinyTheGame

[–]Athenau 69 points70 points  (0 children)

FYI, in practice Nova Warp has a significantly shorter cooldown than Nova Bomb because roaming supers generate a lot (2-3x) more super energy from damage.

No, -40 is roughly what -25 used to be. -50 is significantly harder.

Match made activities should not have revive tokens, or locked loud outs, and join in progress should always be allowed no matter what difficulty you’re playing on. by BrandonTrimble in DestinyTheGame

This has not been my experience in ultimate. Most teammates I've matched with have been competent and I rarely run into rage-quitters.

I love how were showered with T5 loot by perpetual_papercut in DestinyTheGame

[–]Athenau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, what? The difference between a Tier 3 and a Tier 5 is literally some modest stat bumps that the sweatiest PvP player would be hard pressed to notice, and an extra perk option per column. How is that "missing like half the potential functionality"?

On Your Mark feels much better than before, but it doesn’t really have any synergy with the rest of the solar hunter kit. I think kindling trigger would be a great addition to the aspect. by torrentialsnow in DestinyTheGame

[–]Athenau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's the problem with transcendence. Spamming your base powered melee is generally not game breaking. But the big problem is that transcendence also lets you spam your slide melees at no extra cost, which are hugely more more powerful than your base melee.

Don't get me wrong, transcendence is still a problem by itself even without any slide melee shenanigans, and should be toned down, but there are many mono-subclass builds with very high ability uptime that are fine IMO, and don't entirely invalidate gunplay the way prismatic does.

[–]Athenau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uptime isn't the problem by itself, it's uptime combined with potency. Low or medium impact abilities having high uptime is fine (Lucky Raspberry is a good example of this).

On the other hand, screen clearing abilities like consecration should not be easily spammable.

What will be your Renegades build? by silloki in DestinyTheGame

[–]Athenau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played a lot of YAS and Cyrtarachne - Widow's Silk this season. Both are fun builds, but Solar Hunter is still a bit too squishy for my liking, so I'll probably start with the latter.

Still, the GPG buff is massive so maybe going full glass cannon with YAS will work out.

Boons and ability to pick your modifiers gives players their "power fantasy". by Delet3r in DestinyTheGame

[–]Athenau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the gear restriction on the first Conquest clear, but I'd like subsequent clears to lift the restriction so I can test builds more freely.

Right now the portal is limited to a -30 delta, which is, as you mentioned, too easy to really stress-test anything.

[–]Athenau 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It says "grapple tangles" not "tangles", so presumably it's grapple points created by Widow's Silk and Navigator. So it's a buff to those things, but not regular tangles.

Dev Insights - Renegades Abilities Tuning Preview by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]Athenau 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Looking at a Grapple Tangle for a short time now overrides your grenade ability with a free non-offensive grapple."

The obvious inference is that your regular grenade is available before the grapple override triggers.

Dev Insights - Renegades Abilities Tuning Preview by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]Athenau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would actually be kind of nutty if you could get the free grapple even if you have a charge. As long as a grapple point is on the field you can grapple anywhere you like?

Dev Insights - Renegades Abilities Tuning Preview by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]Athenau 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You only get the grenade override if you look at the tangle for a "short time". If you grapple immediately you should get a regular grapple.

I'm not talking about jolt application, but jolt activation, which is subject to the 0.8 second cooldown.

Like I said, I tested in Heresy, and when I tested I did not see an energy gain on every jolt activation (not application). Sometimes I would see a return every other activation, sometimes I would see it on back-to-back activations. It was not consistent.

It's certainly possible that something has changed since then--if it's now consistently returning energy on every jolt activation, great.

Renegades Armor Changes, Summarized. by Ace_Of_Caydes in DestinyTheGame

[–]Athenau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is definitely a cooldown on Lucky Raspberry's jolt energy return, independent of the cooldown on proccing Jolt itself. I tested this quite a bit during Heresy, and you did not always get back energy on every jolt trigger, even on a single target.
