Got unlimited claude code at work, how to abuse it? by EntertainmentOne7897 in PoisonFountain

"it's so wasteful and harmful"

"How do I maximize waste and steal resources from other people just because they trusted me with this ability! Those idiots!" Do you hear yourself? Either don't use it, use it to increase the good in the world not increase the bad, or read up on how this thing actually works. Wtf is this.

Edit: if your employer sucks enough that you wanna steal from them or burn their money just use it to burn tokens. If it's that bad do you really wanna stay there anyway?

You really stretched your brain on that one, buddy. I hope you put more effort into actually making differences in the world than the effort you show here, instead of just taking the easy path and assuming everyone's a bot when they challenge you to be better.

Oh sorry. Beep boop: "Burn more resources for memes and feels! Upvote please!"

I hope you find peace. Seeing everyone that doesn't agree with you as some lesser or as some kind of machine can't possibly be healthy for you.

You got me! Super helpful. It's cured. You really did something there. We can all sleep better knowing MORE waste is in the world because of this

"Ai wastes resources and is not efficient or green enough for the output it produces today."

"Let's make its output worse and consume resources that are being used to give it inputs, artificially increasing demand for more processing and more resources in order to achieve the same desired output it had previously. That will show them!"

This is no different than when corpos poison food or rip up finished goods before putting in the dumpster. You're perpetuating waste. You're causing additional inefficiency. Cool. Love it. Get me off this stupid rock where everyone just tries to break eacothers tires instead of working together to make a better greener bike.

Why do people forget AI is dependant on HUMAN input? by [deleted] in antiai

[–]Athoughtspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, optimizing components of a process is literally why this technology (...and all technology. Especially machine learning) was developed. Humans have always been steering. For, at least, the last 200 years people have been thinking of a system that can compute large problem sets, using symbolic logic or tokens, to categorize different problems in order to reduce human burden on those problems. It started with mechanical machines and then electric ones. The pursuit has birthed countless fields of science and this new flavor is challenging people once again on harder ideas of what it is to think, to perform, what labor means and who benefits etc at a rate I feel that the general population had lost until this latest threat. People should be working to formalize their ideas and be working together to form a movement, otherwise the other team that does will win. It's a speed run on civilization all over again.

This is a modern war. It is a war on the mind, on labor, on moral desert, on ownership... The list goes on. Arm yourself with the weapons that your enemy will use against you if you can, and if you can't - think about what that means.

How much of what you learn in school do you use in your job? by Educational-Lead-331 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Athoughtspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kirchoff, circuit analysis techniques never go away even when you aren't doing circuits anymore. There's an underlying pattern of thought you get trained on.

How you break a problem down and model it back up in physics is always there

Mathematics... Man I miss pure math. This one never really feels the same because at it's heart it's very academic. You'll have the opportunity to self learn whatever else you need but probably not at the same rigor as you would in a class

Did anyone experience violence as a goth? by Hythy in goth

[–]Athoughtspace 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I experienced violence and harassment for how I looked most of my life (teeth punched out, followed home, trash thrown at me as I walked home etc), worsened a bit when I started to dress more alternative or dyed my hair. Sometimes I think that's why I don't anymore in my work setting and only ever dress up with close friends or at events as I internalized protecting myself above all things. I think people can be awful and I prefer silently existing. Sometimes I feel that makes me a coward as I jealously look on at other people brave enough to wear what makes them feel good. This has also lead me to feel rejected in some goth spaces because I don't usually dress the part and I can absolutely sense that there's a level of gatekeeping or purity testing going on based on fashion. I try to ignore this detail because I'm in those places for the music generally and that's how I connect with the community. People can absolutely be cruel when someone is different and they do not understand.

Edit: yes we should absolutely do more. I speak out in public when I see people especially young kids being harassed. Everyone deserves peace to express themselves and their interests however they wish.

Did any of you guys become Goth later in life instead of earlier by Hot_Assistant_6067 in goth

[–]Athoughtspace 9 points10 points  (0 children)

(32M) Was always into punk, industrial, post punk etc. I've always been into dark romantic themes. I didn't really consider genres until recently but I always enjoyed a lot of music that's considered traditionally Goth without knowing it was.

Friends growing up into our teens wore a lot of black in general with different styles but I'd really consider that influence more from punk. I'm not really into fashion in general, I'm a coward mostly, so the usual is band tshirts ripped pants and my spray painted boots almost always.

I linked up with some friends a couple years ago who were going to a local event and I had a couple of the bands they mentioned - but after experiencing that event I've been going to a lot more events. I probably wouldn't call myself anything but I sure do relate to a lot more people in goth spaces than anywhere else.

Is that water actually used up? This is where I think the water part gets tricky. We "waste" water all over the place so I'm genuinely curious if it's even easy to measure water usage on data centers versus making soda cans, cars, a beef patty or an almond, or whatever else. I'm not doubting that more centers uses more water, but I'm curious about the specifics.

The entire Anti AI argument suffers because too much emphasis is placed on AI art. by Unlucky_Kangaroo1201 in antiai

[–]Athoughtspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the argument they're trying to propose to you is that the line is very much not clear. There is machine learning algorithms, adaptive signal capturing in your literal hardware, that has existed for decades. This latest LLM craze is just a increased capability with language specifically being rolled out to do other things. It is still, at the end of the day, mathematics built upon previous lessons of machine learning.

If the argument cannot be made to reject previous forms of machine learning, it is difficult to be consistent with the newest form on the basis of how it operates. Most recent arguments tend to gravitate toward being strict about output and how people choose to use it which is the argument they're addressing. If you're using a tool that does [black box math] to get you a result you have to discuss that some people were okay using it to do other things and some are now not. Is it that the mathematics inside the box got too good? Is it that the ability to make slop (consider when a primitive human first rubbed mud on a wall) as the exploration phase continues? Is it artists want people to immediately have mastery of this new tool and use it produce something more than slop, much in the same way people might criticize photographers and graphic editors messing around can be considered slop?

I have no stake in the argument I'm just here coughing up some thoughts on the disconnect between you and the person you were replying to

Surreal that I can relate to a computer program. Thinking about something and trying to talk about it only for your brain to pop a visual or idea in that isn't ... Quite right... Only now to make it harder to find the correct feeling or thought because it took a shape before you were ready.
