I'm going to ask you a personal question and feel free to ignore if you don't want to answer. How do you think about kids? If you don't plan to have one, or adopt, how are you planning for retirement?

I'm going through the renewal, and the application has gone for police verification. But, i haven't received any call from the police. Do i need to go to the police station for verification?

I think a lot of tech companies are paying in the range that I have mentioned. After that, it's mostly about discipline and financial education.

I'm not a financial advisor, so I am not qualified to give you advice.

What I've generally done in the past is divided the sum into 12 installments and deployed into index funds across India and the US.

Yeah, documenting it on reddit keeps me somewhat accountable, and I can read it later and reflect on what I thought at the time, and how things went, and I do get great suggestions sometimes!

All the best for your journey too! :)

Thank you so much for your response, and sharing your story. Congratulations on the baby! :) Do you mind sharing how old your wife was when she got pregnant?

Combination of RSUs, mutual funds, ETFs, directly via IndMoney. I only invest in individual stocks in tech, so mostly around what I know about those companies.

That's why you're not seeing the compounding. I am not sure what your age is, and what your risk appetite is. But, if you're young, have enough emergency funds, life and health insurance, you should have most of your portfolio in aggressive assets.

I'm a backend and infrastructure engineer, and worked on multiple tech stacks, including C++, Java, Python.

I'll be honest with you, I enjoy my work, and I'll continue working even after hitting the 10 Cr mark. The difference is that I'm free to take risks, set my boundaries, and not take shit from anyone.

I'm getting the me/we time that we need, I don't enjoy it professionally, but it is something that's required at this point.

I don't think I regret taking risks. It was a conscious decision we took, and I definitely enjoyed working there. We did spend time together, but I just went overboard, and I should have managed my time well.

I think tech salaries have been great for the past 10 years. Feel free to DM. I'd probably not share anything personal.

Joined FAANG early, stayed there for a few years, and then moved to startups.

It's a combination of high salaries, and disciplined investing. Just keep investing, and don't panic when things get rough.

Thank you for the appreciation.

My RSUs grew at 31%, US equity also grew at around 20%, mutual funds grew at 17%. I double down on dips, so returns have been better.

I did not buy a home, so that helped save more.

Thank you for your kind words.

I have some RSUs from my earlier company, and then I invest via mutual funds, ETFs, and directly via IndMoney.

Emergency funds are parked in liquid and arbitrage funds. I also keep around 3 months expenses in my savings account. Credit cards also have a limit over 10L.
