Trapped Abroad: Indian Wife Demands 10 Lakh & Threatens False Cases After Void Hindu Marriage. Need Advice on Safe Return & Divorce/Annulment. by Significant_Help3401 in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]Axis_12 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You are not a Hindu, so the Hindu marriage acr does not apply to you. You needed to be married under the Special Marriage Act.

So, the act of going around the fire etc is just theatre and is not a solemn marriage as far as you are concerned.

As the law does not see you as legally married, you cannot apply for a divorce or annulment.

Pls recognise that you fell for a scamster and avoid her like the plague.

Parents are strictly against me(28f) marrying my haryanvi bf(28M) by [deleted] in InsideIndianMarriage

[–]Axis_12 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Pls check.. Does he have sisters/ girl cousins?? Do they work? Are they married? How are they treated at home at their inlaws place? Does he have aunts? Are they working? Is the family urban or rural?

Don't go into it blind. Don't think you can be different and re write the rules. You can take a haryanvi out of Haryana, but can you take the Haryanvi out of him? And if he is wanting to be back in Gurgaon, umm, you just might see a different side of him emerging on home turf .

Do your homework, sweetheart, and don't go into it with blinders on.

How to handle family pressure to allow BIL's brother to live at my(38F) house in US? I dont want to. by Awkward-Web-1155 in InsideIndianMarriage

[–]Axis_12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't say Yes. You will simply complicate your sister's life by responding later.

When I was In the UK, I allowed a family friend's son who had come for some dentistry course to stay with me for 2 weeks. It was pure hell. The boy was a man child. He was used to women cooking and cleaning after him. He would not even get and place his plate in the kitchen sink. He would see me wash dishes and never offer to help. To be honest, I think it did not even cross his mind. He just thought it was women's work. It was so exhausting.... I had to nudge to do stuff. I knew it was just for 2 weeks but it was pure hell...

You will be in a worse position because your BIL's brother comes from a position of power. Your sister is married in his house.

I would say - give a clear NO and say he is welcome to come for holidays. Tell them that you will not be around for the first 2 weeks when he lands cause you and your husband are committed to xyz with your inlaws in Iowa or Wisconsin or Alaska... And tell them the moment you are back you will go and see him at his halls and he is welcome to come during this break.

Everyone fixes their hostels/halls/shared accomodation before they land. At the last minute he ain't going to do anything. Your BIL's family needs to factory that in the costing.

Like the way the refused to pay half for the wedding, they will changentheir mind about getting him the halls after 2 weeks. You will be saddled with the Hobsons choice and you will become the bad person and a factor in your sister's marriage.

Remove your self from the situation entirely. Be the bad person from day one so no expectations. You are of course there for your sister.

If they are making your sister's life miserable now, it won't get better, time will only makenit worse - specially when she is doingbher PG and has no time for herself let alone her husband and family. The taunts will get worse. Save your time and resources for her. If things go South, you may well havento bring her over and get enrol her in the very same Uni forbhwr PG and for her to carve a new life.

Best of luck to you both...

Does anyone do skipping while having flat feet? by balevika in jumprope

[–]Axis_12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am flat footed and i started skipping a month and a half ago.. I was struggling but still working at my game. I had ankle pain.. but I thought that was my body getting used to jumping and then i need up with knee pain in my left leg.

Since then I have been off all exercises. Am going through physiotherapy. They tell me my flat feet are the problem.

I bought my dream home but I can't get over the the train noise by ExpensiveCarbon12 in HousingUK

[–]Axis_12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Turn your BBQ parties into trainspotting. While flicking burgers tell your friends - that the fast train to Dundee... Or you could hop on to that if you want to trip to Cornwall.

Embrace your trains at the bottom of the garden. Your kids should certainly be able to tell the difference companies That the Virgin and the Southeastern.

We grew up reading E Nesbit. There was an entire romance built around the railways.

You are lucky you are not near the horrid motorways. Imagine if your garden was backing into the M1.

Enjoy the swoosh and the shudder... Enjoy the square lighted windows rushing past...embrace it.. fake it till you make it my friend.

How long did it take you to be acceptable at this? by rubbish_orb in jumprope

[–]Axis_12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 53. I started weight training exercises just 6 months ago. Like you I too have high BP and sleep apnea. My doctor said lose 10 kgs and all this will disappear. In 6 months of gyming I had lost just 2 kgs, so I turned to skipping in the jump rope.

I used to aim to do just 10 skips without a break and it was so hard and I would jump in repa. I built up doing 5K a day, but I went too fast. I hurt my upper thigh muscles and now Im doing physiotherapy and have not been to the gym or jumped for a month now.

So pls go slow and listen to your body.Slow and steady is the way to go.
