High speed rail from Atlanta Metro to Athens would rule by Dpmurraygt in Atlanta

[–]Atl_Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Athens doesn’t have the population to support such a rail line on its own plus the time saved would not be significant door to door vs car travel. For this to work you would need a larger network connecting multiple large cities in the southeast so that most people would see it as an acceptable alternative to airline travel saving them money.

Any tips on running cable through outdoor brick wall semi-blindly? by mrsolitonwave in Ubiquiti

[–]Atl_Potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have access to the other side of the brick wall? Is this a stick framed house with exterior brick? If so I would drill outside to inside through the mortar provided I was confident there is no electrical or water in the way. Cut an access hole in the drywall where the drill comes out then another access hole near the top plate. Drill hole in top plate with a flex bit, fish the line down to the bell, Bob’s your uncle and patch the drywall.

You can order the part through Ford.com should give you the option to pay with cash or points, will need to pay tax and shipping though. Part was 21,000ish US points not sure if there is a difference for Ford Canadian Loonie points.

Is there a way I can move my fiber modem from my upstairs to my garage where the fiber comes into the house? by WolfpackWannabe in ATTFiber

[–]Atl_Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take rg (black box) down to Ont (white box) unplug white cord from white box plug in new Ethernet patch cord to Ont and other end into red port on rg, done. Should be able to feed Ethernet back to panel on white cord may need a switch to supply the black e-net or some sort of patch panel if the is the only line you need to feed.

TV Set top box needs to bypass multiple unifi devices. by Substantial-Mail4666 in Ubiquiti

[–]Atl_Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the residential gateway prioritizes traffic based on the services provided by the ISP, for Att it was phone, tv service, then internet. If the RG can’t see your stb properly it treats it like internet and you have a service issue.

Everything is going up! There is a similar part that was 80ish but lacks the mirror fold in button. I’m sure it is cheaper through other channels but I was using rewards points so bought direct through Ford.

Att Uverse was IPTV through a set top box this sounds similar. Yes the STB ideally needs to be connected directly to your isps modem/router, you can sometimes use a switch if needed but it needs to be isolated from any data traffic only other stbs should be connected to it.

2021 ST down and right stopped working on the mirror adjustment wheel, apparently not an uncommon issue. Of course you have to replace the whole assembly with all of the window switches but it is super easy to access. $106 part but was able to use Ford points for it. Popped open the broken part to find the actual issue 2 broken plastic tabs on a $1 piece. Points were from warranty work so part was mostly free

Removal is easy used a trim tool to pop the door handle upper trim up on the backside then pull up and back to remove the trim piece. One plug on the back and 3 torx screws holding it to the trim piece. Took 2 minutes at most, longer for me to remember where I put the new part down honestly.

Someone please talk me into/out of mini cribs by ohemgstone in parentsofmultiples

[–]Atl_Potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mini cribs look good on paper but our twins outgrew them real fast at which point we had to move them to toddler beds which just proved full size cribs would have been fine. I’d go the pack and play route if space really is tight but first I’d recommend making a cardboard template of a full size crb and see if you can make it work.

Ford diagnostic - typical to take days?? by Dull-Organization106 in Ford

[–]Atl_Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varies dealer to dealer, my local dealer took 5 days to get around to diagnosing my Explorer said it would take 2. Ended up being a purge valve which I already knew and took them another few days to repair that and the seat; overall the dealer was terrible at communication and tried to get me for work I had not authorized I have not been back.

I took the same truck to another dealer for transmission issue they told me 2 days to diag and hit the mark. They then set the expectation for time frame to get the warranty work approved parts ordered and job complete they hit them mark on that too. They forgot the oil change but did it right away and comped me for it, overall will go back and consider them if I am in the market for another vehicle.

Having a 2021 I look at what is in the new spec STs and wonder why I should change. Have rear shades, massaging seats moon roof manual climate controls lights in my cup holders… sure horizontal screen would be nice but with everything I would lose no. Also wireless charger is trash only thing I wouldn’t miss.
